Bowman, a former resident of Cheyenne, died July 26, 1956, at the Veteran's Administration hospital, Tacoma, Washington, where he had been for the past seven months. Charlie, better known as "Red" was born near Cheyenne, Oklahoma September 1, 1910, where he lived the earlier part of his life. He attended the Cheyenne school. He enlisted at the beginning of World War II, was in active combat in France, Belgium, Germany, and other countries until the close of the war. He re-enlisted and served on a secret mission in Korea, during the Korean conflict. He was united in marriage to Bertie Rochester of Washington, December 28, 1952. Charlie professed faith in Christ at an early age and was known for his honesty and deeds of kindness. He was a member of the Nazarene church. His parents and a sister, Mrs. Ernest Stephenson, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of Tacoma, Washington; four sisters, Mrs. Loyd Scott, Mrs. Bill Batchelor, Mrs. Vern Taylor, all of Cheyenne, and Mrs. Dwight Pitzer, Wichita, Kansas; two brothers, Albert of Madera, California and and Ebe of Cheyenne; fifteen nieces, eleven nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at the First Baptist church in Cheyenne Tuesday afternoon, August 7, 1956 with Rev. J.F. Wilkerson officiating. Burial was in the Cheyenne cemetery, Cheyenne, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma, with Scroggins Funeral Home in charge. Cheyenne Star, Cheyenne, OK
