Dykes was born January 23, 1909 at Elk City and departed this Life July 10, 1957, at Cheyenne. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. N.H. Dykes of Cheyenne. Survivors include a son, Joe, Jr., two sisters, Mrs. Sally Dewey and Mrs. A.A. Conway, both of Cheyenne, and one brother, Bill Dykes of Raymond, Washington. Funeral services were held at the Pentecostal Holiness church in Cheyenne, July 12, 1957, with M.F. Andrews and Orbie Sizemore officiating. Interment was in Cheyenne cemetery, Cheyenne, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of Scroggins Funeral Home. Cheyenne Star, Cheyenne, OK
