He departed this life April 23, 1956, at 8:15 a.m., at Carlsbad, New Mexico, at the age of 40 years, seven months and 21 days. He attended school at Breezy Meadow, and grew to manhood in this community. He moved to Loving, New Mexico September 2, 1936. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force on May 8, 1941, and was sent to England in July 1944. He received his discharge September 17, 1945, and moved to Carlsbad. He was united in marriaage to Arlene Oliver at Calion, Arkansas, July 19, 1952. He and his wife made their home in Carlsbad until the time of his passing. He was reared in a Christina home and trusted in Christ as his Saviour. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Arlene, Car5lsbad; his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Rhett Jones of Cheyenne, three brothers, Tom of Amarillo, Chester of Kress, Texas, and Hoover of Strong City; four sisters, Maye Cogburn of Strong City, Fern Keahey, Crawford, Avis Cobb, Strong City, and Alice Shay, Manhattan, Kansas; nine nieces and nine nephews, a host of other relatives and a multitude of friends. He was a loving husband and son and his firnds were numbered by his acquanitances. His passing leaves a vacant plac e that only God can fill. His favorite saying was that he wanted his last step to be his longest. He has now stepped across time into eternity with God. Rev. A.L. Martin and Rev. Horace Woodard officiated the funeral services burial Silent Home cemetery, Roll, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma. Scroggins Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Cheyenne Star, Cheyenne, OK
