In 1899 he moved with his parents to Custer county, near Custer City, Oklahoma. On January 20, 1900, he was united in marriage to Jessie A. Oberly, who preceded him in death April 16, 1946. To this union two children were born. In 1909 they moved to Roger Mills county, near Crawford and he made his home here until November of 1954, when he was united in marriage to Clara Whistler of Palisade, Coloraado where he made his home until death. Mr. Gilliland was converted in the Nazarene church in 1923. He leaves to mourn his death his wife of the home address, one daughter, Emma Keahey, and one son, Frank Gilliland both of Crawford, two grandchildren, Velma Keahey and Maxine Thomas, two sisters, Ina Boyd of Waverly, Kansas, and Sadie Graham, Willowbrook, California, two brothers, Walter H. Gilliland of Luling, Texas and Charles R. Gilliland of Crawford, several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. He was a man of sterling qualities, a good husband, loving father, a true friend and a good neighbor. Services were Sunday, July 14, 1957 at Crawford with Scroggins Funeral Home in charge. Rev. A.L.
