Mrs. Ivy died Sunday morning, November 4, 1956 in an Elk City hospital, after a lenghy illness. Rev. Geral Main and Rev. J.F. Wilkerson officiated at the services, held in the Methodist church. Mattie Sue Ivy was born January 1, 1875 in Jackson county, Alabama, and was married to J.L. Ivy on August 14, 1892, in Texas. She came with her husband from Texas in 1889 and homesteaded east of Roll. Later they moved to Cheyenne. She was a longtime member of the Methodist church. Survivors are her husband of the home address, six daughters, Mrs. Joella Gillette, Cheyenne; Mrs. Nonnie Mouser, Madison, Indiana; Mrs. Pearl Stencel and Mrs. Ruby Oliver, both of Sand Diego; Mrs. Hazel Scott, Oklahoma City; and Mrs. Helen Parkins, also of San Diego; three sons, Dick of Cheyenne, Perry of Granite, and Jake L., Jr., of San Diego. Other survivors are one brother, Terrell Simms, three half brothers, Walter Simms, John Simms and Virgil Simms, all of Cheyenne. She was preceded in death by a sister and two sons. Committal was in the Silent Home cemetery, Roll, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma with Scroggins Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements. Cheyenne Star, Cheyenne, OK
