Surnames: Ballard, Farnsworth, Tidwell Classification: Obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/5YB.2ACE/3576 Message Board Post: Wilbert Monroe Ballard was born near Weaublew, Missouri, in St. Clair County, February 9, 1872, and departed this life April 7, 1938 at the age of 66 years, one month and 29 days at the Musick Hospital in Elk City, Oklahoma. He left Missouri when a young man and came to Lincoln County, Oklahoma, where he met and was united in marriage to Lillie Farnsworth in 1901. To this union were born six children, of which an infant preceded him in death. In the spring of 1905 he moved to his homestead near Old Rankin where he resumed his school teaching profession which he started when he was 18 years of age and continued every year usntil the fall of 1919 when he moved with his family to Cheyenne where he engaged in the lumber business. He professed Christ at an early age but as he never lived where there was a Baptist Church he did not unite with the church until September 3, 1922, and at a later date he was ordained as a deacon of the First Baptist Church of Cheyenne and has lived faithful to his belief the remainder of his life. He was a good neighbor, loving husband and kind father. He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife and five children. Mrs. Chesner Tidwell, Royal Ballard, Joe Ballard of Cheyenne, Dwight Ballard of Taft, Texas, Kenneth Ballard of Donna, Texas, all of whom were present. He also leaves three brothers, one sister and three grand daughters, a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services were conducted Sunday at 3:00 o'clock at the First Baptist Church, Cheyenne, with Rev. J.W. Carleton in charge, assisted by Rev. Graham, Wright and Gilpatrick.
