Baker, closed his eyes on all things mortal and his soul departed for realms above. Mr. Baker was born in Ohio September 8, 1855. On December 24, 1880 he married Miss Sarah F. James in Council Bluffs, Iowa. To them were born ten children, six boys and four girls, all living except two girls who with their mother are at rest. Mr. Baker with his family came to olde Day county January 18, 1901, and filed on a homestead in Washita township. He was justice of the peace for one term, resigning recently to take the office of assessor, and it has often been said of him "We will take the case to Henry Baker's court, we will get justice sure there." He was always very careful and before rendering a decision the writer has known him to drive to Cheyenne to inquire into some point of law that he did not fully understand, lest he make a mistake and misplace justice. He is survived by eight children, Reese, Charles, Mrs. John Calder, George, Frank, Don, Miss Mary and Horace, who have the sympathy of the entire community in their loss. The remains werfe laid to rest Sunday in the Texas cemetery beside his wife who died May 3, 1906. Cheyenne Star, Cheyenne, Ok
