He came to Oklahoma in 1906, settled at Arapaho. On November 4, 1917 he married Rose Lee at Arapaho and they had two children, a son Lee Dward Downey, now of Penrose, Colorado, and Edyth Marie Mullins,, now of Arapaho. Ben and Rose moved to Roger Mills County in 1940 and he lived in the Cheyenne community until his death August 21, 1959 at the age of 70 years, 7 months, 25 days. For many years after coming to Oklahoma he was an active member of the Odd Fellows Lodge. He is survived by his wife and children and six grandchildren; three brothers J.E. and Bill of Martinsville, Illinois, and Charlie of Los Angeles, California, and a number of nieces and nephews.
