Hammons and passede from this life on November 8, 2001 at the age of 87 years and 8 months. On January 20, 1936 she was united in marriage to Chester Ray Young at Sayre, Oklahoma. To this union were born three sons, Bobby Doyal, Rickey Dwight and Terry Dale. Also coming to this marriage were two children, Deltha and Ray, born to Chester and his deceased wife Mae. Lenora raised them along with her three sons. Chester and Lenora farmed and owned a grocery store in and near Roll, Oklahoma until 1946 when they sold out and moved to the present farmsite south of Bethune, Colorado. They resided there until 1960 when Chester retired and they moved into Bethune. Leonard continued to cook for the school for several years. Later she moved to Burlington where she has resided since. Lenora became a Christian and joined the Seventh Day Adventist Church in February 1976. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, daughter, Deltha, four brothers, two sisters and one great grandchild. She is survived by her sons, Bob and wife Esther, Rickey and wife Barbara of Burlington, Tolorado, Terry and wife Debby of Grand Junction, Colorado, Ray and wife Wayna Jean Young of Elk City, Oklahoma one sister, Roberta and husband Grady Truelock of Dumas, Texas, ten loving grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services for Lenora Young were held Monday, November 12, 2001 at 2:00 p.m. at the Love Funeral Home in Burlington, Colorado with Pastor Frank McNeil officiating. Burial followed in the Fairview Cemetery, Burlington, Colorado. Visitation was held Sunday, November 11, 2001 at the funeral home from 6-8- p.m. A memborial for Lenora has been established in her name to the donor's choice and may be left or mailed to the funeral home.
