He came to Oklahoma with his parents when he was 17 years of age. He came to Roger Mills County about 40 years ago and resided near Durham. He was married to Martha Jane Arthur in 1896. She preceded him in dceath in 1939. To this union were born nine childdren who are Mrs. Ida Christian, Aaron Duke and Mrs. Rena Penny all of Reeley, California, Mrs. Elsie Bledsoe of Okmulgee, Oklahoma, Mrs. Artie Smith of Hammon, Harvey Duke of Leeedey, Mrs. Barbara Wheeler of Reydon, Mrs. Lois Jones and Oda Duke of Cheyenne. Besides these children were left 27 grandchildren. Burial was at the Farview Cemetery, Durham, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma with Rev. C.B. Reneau of Cheyenne preaching the sermon.
