I have lots of information on rest of family (Julia Manta from Potenza married a Villano and came to Colorado in 1901) Based on a letter in July, 1943 from this family (address538 51st Ave. Long Island, NY) about the death of Giulia Manta Villano, I tracked down their name in the 1920 Census and derived the birth year from the census age. Verified by Potenza birth record #171 (in file). The 1920 Census lists Donato (45) came over in 1896, NA 1904; wife, Louisa (36) over in 1887, NA 1904 Children are Michael (18), Rocco (16), Margaret (14), John (12), Anna (10), Teresa (8), Lucy (6), Rose 94 1/2), Helen (2y11m) and Louis (4 months old). Also Donato's widowed sister, Terresa Coggiano and son are living with them. Of course they came from Potenza (see Italian documents in Potenza file) On Ellis Island I located Donato's ship record...arrived 27 April 1897 on the Hesperia from Naples. On SSDI there was a record for a Louis Manta (SS#111-10-2697) born 1 Sept. 1919; died 19 May 1997.
