Surnames: Cecil, Wylie, Shelton, Stanka Classification: Obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/5YB.2ACE/6644 Message Board Post: William Burley Cecil was born August 24, 1871, Pulaski County, Virginia, and passed away in Pampa, texas on January 6, 1946 at the age of 74 years, 4 months and 13 days, having made his home there for the past four years. He came to Dallas County in 1888 where he later met and married Louella Wylie on April 23, 1893. To this union were born 10 children; two girls and eight boys, three dying in infancy. Mr. Cecil was preceded in death by his wife 26 years ago. He moved with his family to Durham, Oklahoma in 1904 where he homesteaded and lived until 1941 when he moved to Pampa. At an early age he was converted and joined the Methodist church and was a faithful member until the time of his passing. He was on his way to the evening services when the accident occured. Mr. Cecil leaves to mourn his passing the following children: D.E. Cecil, Torrence, California Mrs. Joe Shelton, Pampa, Texas Bob Cecil, Los Angeles, California Forrest Cecil, Gaden, California Glen Cecil, Durham, Oklahoma Mrs. M.E. Stanka, Rendondo Beach, California Woodrow Cecil, U.S. Navy 12 grandchildren and one brother, D.S. Cecil, San Berardino, California. All of the children and four grandchildren were present. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Pampa, with Rev. R.L. Gilpin bringing the message. Rev. E.B. Bowen asssissting. Another service was held at 2:30 in Durham, with Rev. Gilpin in charge. Mr. Cecil was laid to rest by the side of his wife in the Fairview cemetery, Durham, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of Dunkel Carmichael funeral home.
