Gilliland, aged Cheyenne resident died from flames at his residence early Tuesday morning. He was approximately 94 years of age and had been a resident of Roger Mills County for more than half a century. The fire alarm sounded at 8:15 a.m. Firemen rushed to the scene to find the house where the aged man resided alone, aglow weith flames. They found the man laying on a couch, with a pipe nearby. It was only through the use of a fog spray after the house was opened, that firemen were able to remove the couch and the suffocated man. Fire Chief, R.L. Trammell stated that the volunteer firemen used advantagedoulsy, some of the techniques learned at the recent fire school. A bundle of orchids, one for each of Cheyenne's volunteer firemen.
