U.A. Albin, 89-year-old western Oklahoma pioneer and former Sayre newspaperman, succumbed Tuesday January 3, 1939 after a protracted illness. An early day printer, Mr. Albin was employed by the Sayre Headlight when that paper was owned and edited by the late Charles J. Seely, popular western Oklahoma newspaperman. Mr. Albin established The Altruist, a newspaper, in Erick in 1902, and was well known by oldtimers here and in other sections of western Oklahoma. After retiring from the newspaper business, Mr. Albin served as justice of peace in Roger Mills county for a number of years. Funeral services for the early day county resident will be held at 1:30 Thursday afternoon from the Meridian Community Building with Reverend Briggs of Bulo, officiating. He was living on his farm in that community when he succembed at 2:30 Tuesday morning. Survivors include five sons, R.O. Albin of Wichita, Kansas, W.C. Albin and G.M. Albin of Sweetwater, Harry Albin of Spring Lake, Texas; and George Albin of Reydon; and four daughters, Mrs. Lillie Maxwell of Hartford, Kansas, Mrs. Lulu Burge of Ponca City, Mrs. Minnie Hodge and Mrs Eva Guyer of Sweetwater.
