Then the County Genealogical Society is preparing the land runners newspaper with accounts of all the C&A Land Runners that have been obtained so far. It seems that more are added each time. This will be the third edition of this newspaper and it is going to be even bigger and better. They will be on sale for $1.50 that week. IF you want one, I could reserve you an issue and it will probably cost about $2.25 to get it to you. Then there will also be on sale, t-shirts, County afghan throws, mugs, buttons, ties, derby hats, trading cards with the picture taken on April 19, 1892, etc. They are various prices. The Old Settlers' Committee has been working for two years now and things are really shaping up nicely. The Alumni is held at the same time so on Saturday evening you can choose among dances, Alumni Banquet, visiting. At the Alumni Banquet there will be a renowned whistler, a set of 5 bagpipers for entertainment. Recognition of activities that have made it to state (vocal, band, speech, one act, basketball, softball, etc.) as well as honoring a Teacher of the Year award. There is a lovely quilt that is going to be raffled, as well as two pretty big bears that are outfitted in a guys BB uniform and the girl's Bearette uniform.....This is going to be quite an evening. I understand they are trying to find a turkey (live) to toss off the bank like they used to do in town. Also a group of 1950's graduates from out of town have challenged the 1950's grads in town to raise $500 so we can have the Clydesdale horses in the parade.....We will see how this works! The motels in town are full but there are several in Elk City that are available. We have many restaurants and there will be several concessions. We will have fans for sale which will have the schedule printed. If you haven't made your plans to come for the week, it is not too late. We have RV hookups available. If you need any information, please call the Pioneer Museum/Chamber Office at 580-497-2760. Blessings, Judy Tracy
