Clyde attended officers training at the Naval Academy in Annapolis, where he also met his future wife and Navy Nurse, Lieutenant Hila Hamilton. Upon his graduation, the Navy assigned him to remain at the Academy as an instructor to other classes of "90-day Wonders." Following this, he was transferred to the first of several destroyers he served on as ship engineers. Clyde served mostly in the Pacific theatre from the Philippines north, including seeing action in the Battle of the China Sea. As his ship sailed toward Iwo Jima he received word that his parents were gravely ill and he was given emergency leave to return to help out on the family farm. When he was able to return to active duty, the Navy assigned him to his last tour, joining a ship's crew pf half German naval personel and half Americans to deliver a capturedd German destroyer to post-war England. He shipped back to the US where he mustered out and traveled to southern Maryland to marry Hilda. They immediately left for Oklahoma and within months he retured to Tulsa to work for Dresser Engineering where he stayed for another 10 years. In 1956, Clyde and Charles Cone establisheds Oil States Engineering Co. For the next 25 years, they contracted with major oil pipleine companies, building conpressor stations and refining facilities across the Plains, from the Texas Gulf coast to Montana & from Mississippi to New Mexico, in the last few years concentrating most of their effort in western Oklahoma, Kansas, and the Texas panhandle. After Clyde retired, he and Hilda traveled widely, visited with friends and relatives across the country, and he pursued his interest in family genealogy. In 1998, Hilda died and in 2003 he moved to southern California to be closer to his daughter and son-in-law, Susie and Steve Dever. 1. Re: [OKROGERM] Research
    2. I have a request in front of me for pictures of the three Mastins buried in the Hammon cemetery that I received from Random Acts on March 8. This is about 45 miles from my house as I live on the west side of the county and Hammon is the far east side of the county. I was hoping to go to Elk City (75 miles) and then up to Hammon on my way home some day this week. It is rainy and cold here today so it will be later in the week. I can send these photos digitally online with no problem. I have been gone for 5 days since I received this request. Is the request by you also? or is there someone else I need to connect you that is also searching the Mastins. Since they are in the Hammon area of our county, you may want to also check with Custer County for information as Hammon is on the county line. Most of the people go south to Elk City in Beckham county and many of them own land in Custer County. I can do land deed lookups, probate/wills, marriages. I can also look up obituaries. The one on Leota Key Mastin as having passed in July of 1974 would mean only 5 newspapers to check for her obituary...I can do that pretty quick... If you know the dates of the Fred Hint's passing in 1948, I will be glad to look for an obituary for him also If you are not the person at english-zone.com email address, please let me know as I need to connect you to another person who is searching the exact same person that you are searching, plus Leota Key Mastin and Herbert Mastin.
