All the care and love that skilled physicians and an anxious husband could devise and apply for her comfort and assistance were brought to play, but the fiat of "He who rulesd all things well" hads been issued and despite the pleadings and entreaties of all who knew and loved her the sufferer's spirit took its flight to the home the Christian believes is the fulfillment of the life everlasting. Author: WandaPurcell13 Surnames: Harris, Brothers, Freemaan Classification: obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.oklahoma.counties.rogermills/8787/mb.ashx Message Board Post: CHEYENNE MAN DIES IN ONE-CAR MISHAP A 27-year-old Cheyenne man was killed in a one-car automobile accident either late Monday night or early Tuesday morning, but was not discovered until about 8:30 a.m. today. Hugh Wesley Harris was dead at the scene of the accident from multiple injuries and his body was found pinned under the car by bypassers today. The accident apparently occurred as Harris was east bound on SH6 about six miles west of Elk City and his 1970 Chevrolet Malibu left the roadway on the north side of the highway, traveled 194 feet down the ditch, ran into a private drive embankment and went airborne fro 46 feet. After the car landed it went into a side skid and rolled, ejecting Harris and pinning him under the vehicle. Oklahoma Highway patrol Trooper Frank Mayer, Sayre, investigated the accident this morning and talked to one man who passed by the accident at 3 a.m. and the vehicle at that time, but thought the accident had already been taken care of. Mayer reported that seat belts were equipped, but not in use. Another accident reported today by the Elk City Police Department included an injury Sunday afternoon in Elk City in the 100 block of W. Third. Charlesx Deeley Brothers, 20, Cheyenne, a passenger in one of the cars involved, was reportedly injured when the car in which he was riding struck another in the rear. Joe Dennis Freeman, 17, of Cheyenne was issued a citation for following too closely when his 1970 Ambassador Hornet struck the rear of an eastbound 1968 Chevrolet driven by James Emmett Smith, 17, of Sayre. Investigating officer Gary Woodrow estimated damage at $350. to the Freeman Hornet and at $150. to the Chevrolet. Tucker gave up the battle of life and passed over the great beyond last Friday morning, surrounded by the devoted husband and seven children whose loving attention has been untiring since she was stricken. Funeral services were held at the Methodist church Saturday morning at 10 o'clock, Rev. Hicks officiating. A large crowd was present to pay honor to the citizens whose many redeeming virtues and Christian traits of charactrer had been hubly and meekly impresssed on the entire community. True sympathy is extended the devoted husband and, those left to mourn with him the absence of a self sacrificing, mother, whose constant aim in life was to provide a happy home for those she loved. The following relatives from abroad were present at the last sad rites: Miss Lillie Tucker, Vanderbilt Hospital, Nashville, Tenn. Dr. and Mrs. Buck, El Dorado, Oklahoma, the latter being a sister of the deceased. Mrs. Kaate Huff, Cheyenne, Oklahoma, a sister of Mrs. Tucker. Mrs. L.R. Summers, a daughter and Mrs. Louis Tucker, both of El Dorado. It is not often that a country paper is called upon to chronicle the demise of two members of one family within four days of each other, but this is the sad duty of this paper this eeek. One page 1 we refer to the death of Mrs. J.S. Tucker. The little daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Larkin Prestridge, Louise, had been wwith these proud parents, brothers and sisters since december 17, 1931. Baby Louise had suffered more than two weeks from a spider bite. On Tuesday May 14 they brought her to the home of Senator and Mrs. Alvin Moore that she might be near the doctor, but with all the care that the doctors and loving hands could do that great Time Keeper took our little rose and transplanted her among the roses that never wither or die. And since she had gone where she feels no pain, let us not indulge in too much grief. The soul is incapable of death. And she, like a bird not long enough in her cage to become attached to it is free to fly away to purer air. For when the young die, their souls go at once to a better and Divine state. Since we cherrish a trust like his, let our outward actions be in accord with it and let us keep our hearts pure and our minds calm. The Pearly Gates were opened, A grntle voice said come, And with farewewlls unspoken She calmly entered home. Passmore And Ben Hughes, jr. Victims Of Mysterious Blast In Amarillo, Texas BLAZE DESTROYS RESIDENCE Officers Search For Others Said To Have Driven Loot-Inside Car From Scene of Blast. Funeral services were held last Saturday in Sayre, Oklahomas, for J.C. Passmore, 26 years old, vitim of a mystery blast in Amarillo, Texas on Wednesday, September 14, 1932. Ben Hughes, 30, a convicted bank robber, another victim of the mystery blast, was buried in Elk City Sunday. Both Passmore and Hughes were well known in Roger Mills County, Passmore having resided in the Sweetwater country and Hughes near Moorewood. Passmore had been employed several months in Amarillo as a city trash truck helper. It seems from the story of the mystery blast, that a car was laden with loot taken from the Horace B. Tharp home in Amarillo, that a neighbor was awakened and saw from his window, two men stared towards the house with a gasoline can when a mysterious explosion occurred which wrecked the house and burned the two men to death. The bodies were identified until Mrs. Passmore, wife of J. C. Passmore, and a Mrs. Elllis, sister of Passmore, went to view the bodies, as did hundreds of others, when they recognized the body of Passmore positively and were convinced the other was young Hughes, although they stated they had not seen Hughes for several months. Mrs. Passmore said her husband had left home telling her he was going to Leedey, Oklahoma, to look for a place. Relatives of Hughes made positive identification of his body. His wife was employed in Elk City, according to reports. Officers in Amarillo are searching for at least one man and a woman, supposed to have been implicated in the blast and burglary of the Tharp home. Witnesses said the loot-laden car, abandoned two and a half blocks away from the Tharp home, was driven away from the scene by a man.
