The funeral services were conducted by this pastor at the Baptist Church in Cheyenne, Oklahoma and his body laid to rest in the Cheyenne Cemetery on the 26th of September, 1908. Charley was always a good boy, quiet and unasssuming, yet manly in his bearing and courteous in his treatment of all, both old and young. He was loved by his associates and had the confidence and respect of all who knew him. He honored his father and mother and was subject unto them. During a meeting conducted by the pastor and H.O. White, Charley was converted and united with the Baptist Church at Custer Bend in August 1907. He lived a consistant Christian life and passed away with his turst in Jesus He leaves a father and mother, J.N. and Rose Vanderpool, three brothers and three sisters to mourn his early departure, but they "mourn not for the dead as those that have no hope" The bereaved family have the sympathy of a host of friends in this hour of sorrow. He wwas an old soldier and had been in feeble health for some time. He was born March 2, 1941 in Hobart, Oklahoma to Sidney and Edna (Huddleston) Lee. John Ed graduated from Hobart High School in 1959 and attended Southwestern College at Weatherford. He married Janette Mowery on November 23, 1960, in Hobart, Oklahoma. While in college he started working for J.C. Penny and then opened his first clothing store in 1976 in Houston, Texas. John Ed moved his family to Hobart and opened Mr. Johns dress shop. He also owned and operated the Lee Insurance Agency, farmed and ranched for many years. John Ed served in the Hobart School Board 1982-1997 and also served on the Oklahoma State School Board. Both he and Janette had a passion for Mexico and upon his retirement he decided to live the remainer of his life there. John was a member of the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Survivors include 2 daughters: Janelle Lee and friend, Dennis Schoeleon, Yukon, Oklahoma, Jarona Dawson and husband Tommy, Hobart, Oklahoma, 1 son, John Mowery Lee and wife Bobbi Jo, Hobart, Oklahoma, 6 grandchildren: Andrea Jean Iniguez, Melanie Ellis and husband Homer, Lindsey Lee, John Garrett Lee; 2 great grandsons: Thomas Blake Hinsley, Houston, Texas, and Brasyden Anthony "B" Norris, Hobart, Oklahoma; 1 sister: Jeannie Buckley, Fayetteville, AR; 2 nieces, Jana Buckley, Fayetteville, AR and Jill Stover, NC. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Janette in 1989. Memoial Services were held Monday, September 8, 2008 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Hobart, OK. He continued to live in the care of his mother until she passed away in 1999. Jerry has lived the last 10 years to the Cheyenne and Sayre Nursing Home. While on the farm he loved to go help feed the cattle in his red pickup and take care of his dogs. Before he was unable to walk he liked to ride bicycles and horses. He went to school in Sayre for a short time. Jerry loved to be around people and enjoyed the nursing home employees talking to him and taking care of him, especially Jackie and Peggy. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, Steve and Susie Kirk and Dennis and Sarah Marshall, 2 brothers, Gordon Kirk and Rod Kirk; 2 nephews, 2 nieces and 1 infant nephew. He is survived by his 5 sisters, Louise and Bud Walker, Elk City, Oklahoma, Dianna Conway, Sharon and Dickie Tignor, Cheyenne, Oklahoma, Betty and Richard Keahey, Roll, Oklahoma, Margie and John Anderson, Sweetwater, Oklahoma; 4 brothers, George Kirk, Wallice and Glenda Kirk, Cheyenne, Oklahoma, Wade and Nelda Kirk, McLean, TX, Kenneth and Linda Kirk, Roll, Oklahoma; 2 sisters-in-law Ella Pearl Kirk, Cheyenne, Oklahoma and Lesa Kirk, Sayre, Oklahoma. He was united in marriage to Polly Anne Bowman on June 8, 1992 and they made their home in Woodward. Dwayne started his own business N.W. Backhoe and Brush Beating and continued it until his death. Dwayne enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, Jayden and Jase. He especially enjoyed fishing with Jaydsen. He is survived by his wife Polly of the home; daughter; Jenni Corr and husband Jeremy of Roanoke, TX; one son, Austin Fox of Woodward, two grandchildren; Jayden and Jase Corr, his father, Leland Fox and wife Elma of Cushing, one sister, Kim Shelton and husband Donald Louya of Aberdeen, NC, one brother, Darrin Fox and wife Sherrilyn and their children; Chelsea Edwards and Tucker Fox of Edmond, Oklahoma, other family and friends. Hightower, died at the family residence, southwest of Cheyenne on Tuesday evening November 17th, 1905 age thrity-three years and six months. Susie Moore was born May 17, 1872 and was united in marriage to J.H. Hightower in September 1897. Four children, one an infant three weeks old were the result of their union, all of whom survive the mother. Mrs. Hightower united with the Methodist Church at thirteen years of age and lived a consistant Christian life until the date of her death. She was a loving wife, and a mother in the true sense of motherhood, a good neighbor and her life throughtout its short span, was devoted to the welfare of her husband and children and was living example of the teachings of Christ, the Master. The remains were interred in Cheyenne Cemetery, after funeral services at the grave on Wednesday afternoon. The deceased leaves a husband and four children; one sister, Mrs. R.?. Hunt, and two brothers, J.J. Moore, of Cheyenne and J.W. Moores of Saddler, Texas and a host of friends to mourn her loss. The relatives and friends have the sympanthy of the entire community in their sad bereavement. She passed away August 12, 2008 at Edmond, Oklahoma at the age of 60 years 8 months and 29 days. She was married to Gerald Wayne Chandler at the Church of Christ in Durham, Oklahoma on June 25, 1966. They moved to Weatherford, Oklahoma for three years while Jerry attended college and Diane took accounting classes. After Jerry graduated they moved to Oak Ridge, Tennessee where Diane worked at the accounting firm of Simpson and Simpson. In November of 1970 they adopted a beautiful little girl into their life named Kimberly Diahann. They moved to Reydon, Oklahoma. In 1972 on the Chandler Farm and went into the dairy business with Jerry's parents until 1978. Then they bought part of the farm and had a dairy until November 1981. They adopted a beautiful baby boy in June 1976 his name is Michael Wayne. Dianne went to work at the Security State Bank in Cheyenne, Oklahoma in November 1982. Diane enjoyed her work at the bank and made many good friends. What Jerry and Diane believed was a miracle, Diane became pregnant after 18 years of marriage and had a beautiful baby boy on September 10, 1984. He was named Brian Curtis. Diane loved to reads until the loss of her eyesight. She lost much of her eyesight in January of 1993. She could no longer work at the bank so she stayed home and took care of her husband and their home. She and her husband watched General Hospital every day when he came home from teaching school. Diane loved seeing her children and grandchildren. She was always worrying about everyone else but never about herself. Diane had many health problems during her time on earth and we know she is now in a better place where she is not having to suffer anymore. The last two months of Diane's life were spent at Mercy Hospital. The nursing staff became part of our family. They loved her and cared for her as she was one of their own. Diane and Jerry were meant to be together and were soul mates. She will be missed greatly by all her family and friends. Survived by her loving Husband, Jerry, of the home, 1 Daughter, Kim Scott and husband, Joey, Cheyenne, Oklahoma; 2 Sons, Michael Chandler, Cheyenne, Oklahoma; and Brian Chandler, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Her parents, Wesley and Ollie York, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; 5 Grandchildren, Jonathan, Justing, Jacie, Terra, Trey, 2 sisters, Brenda Parman and husband, Buddy of Elk City, Oklahoma; and Patsy Fults and husband, Gerry, Cheyenne, Oklahoma; 1 brother, Richard York and wife, Lucy, Reydon, Oklahoma; host of other relatives and friends. Graveside Services were held Sunday, August 17, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at White Rose Cemetery, Reydon, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma. Officiated by Rev. Jeff Hurlbut. Dr. Mary Dean Brown Conklin was a 1942 Hammon graduate. After graduating from Hammon High School, she attended Pepperdine University in Malibu, California. Mary Dean enlisted in the U.S. Navy on November 17, 1943 where she served as a nurse for service personel returning from the Pacific theater of war. She was discharged on January 6, 1946. Mary Dean played first base for the Marines softball team and played on the basketball team. She gained notoriety as a high scorer with one game of 56 points. Mary Dean did nursing and other jobs and entered chriopratic college in California and graded as a licensed Doctor of Chiropractic in 1960. Dr. Conklin returned to Oklahoma City and owned her own clinic for several years. She was a courageous lady and had a smile and a kind word for everyone.
