Hubbard were conducted at the Silent Home Cemetery, Roll, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma Saturday, Feb. 15, 1947. Mr. Hubbard died February 13, 1947 at the Sayre hospital following a critical illness of two weeks. John Riley Hubbard, son of John H. and Ann Hubbard, was born in Lawrence County, Indian, August 1, 1872. He was united in marriage to Ethel Bussert at Oswego, Kansas, October 13, 1897. To this union 12 children were born, nine of whom survive. They are Carrie Hubbard, Cheyenne, Mrs. Bill McMurtry, Strong City, Mrs. Gordon Cunningham, Cheyenne, Mrs. Chester Jones, Loving, New Mexico, Claude Hubbard, Glen Hubbard, Frank Hubbard, all of Cheyenne, Earnest Hubbard, Toponas, Colorado and Everett of Strong City. His wife, Mrs. Ethel Hubbard, Sayre, and one brother Buffalo, Missouri, survive. Mr. and Mrs. Hubbard came to Roger Mills County in 1904 and resided near Roll from that time until a few months ago when they moved to Sayre. (Cheyenne Star, Feb. 20, 1947)

Dickason were married September 13, 1905 and unto them were born 9 children, Mary Isabelle, the third child, was born October 9, 1911, she being the first to answer to the the call of the Master. Some five weeks ago she was attacked with typhoid fever which made her grow weaker and weaker every day until March 8, 1928 the Death Angel came and carried her to the Great Beyond. By her many noble traits and loving disposition she made friends of all with whom she came in contact. She leaves a host of friends in this vicinity to mourn her loss, a father, mother, six sisters and two brothers. The funeral services were held at the Silent Home cemetery, Roll, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma Satuday afternoon at 5 o'clock and was conducted by Rev. Departed this life into "Eternity" on Jly 14, 1928 at St. Anthony's Hospital, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 31 years, 11 months, 20 days. In 1913 "Cecily" as she was familiary known among her friends, which were many, was converted and united with the Methodist Church South, at Sweetwater, Okla. and lived a consecrated Christian life. On July 10, 1927 she was united in marriage to Mr. Luther E. Hill of Ponca city, Oklahoma where they since made their home. To this union one daughter was born on May 27 named Bessie Mildre. "Cecily" was a loving daughter, kind and affectionate wife and mother. Her body was brought back to the home of her parents, where the funeral services were held on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. by Rev. C. Perry McArthur after which the remains were conveyed to and laid to rest at the Mulberry Cemetery, Sweetwater, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma followed by a large concourse of relatives and friends. Hill, one of Strong City's oldest and most respected citizens calmly passed away at the musick hospital, elk City, January 2, 1927. Mr. Hill had been suffering for months from a complication of troubles but he bore his afflictions with patience and fortitude. Mr. Hill was born in Louisville, Ky, Aug, 27, 1850. He died January 2, 1927, aged 77 years, 5 months and 5 days. He was married to Miss Hermie Almonrode at Henrietta, Texas July 5, 1885. To this union were born six children, two of whom died in infancy. Four still survive, Mrs. Mable Taylor, Elk City; Mrs. Nellie Cofer, Strong City; Mrs. Naomi Poter, Clinton; Roy, the youngest who lived with his parents at Strong City. They had an adopted son, William D. Hill, who was William D. Smith. He lost his life while in service in France. Besides these Mr. Hill leaves to brothers, Jim and George, three sisters, Mrs. Minnie Wicher of McClure Switch; Mrs. Mollie Keener; Mrs. Alma Schaffner, who lives in Texas and a host of friends to mourn his loss. Mr. Hill became a Christian early in life, uniting first with the Methodist Church South, later joining the Baptist Church, where he lived and died a loyal member. He lived much with his Bible and died a triumphant Christian, anchored to the 'Rock of Ages.' In his going his companion who walked with him in the hold bonds of wedlock for forty odd years loses a faithful husband; his children, a tender and loving father; his brothers and sisters, another chord that binds them to the old family circle; and Strong City, one of her most loyal, hnorable and faithful citizens. But later in life he joined the Nazarene Church. At the time of his death he was a member of the Nazarene Church at Roll, Okla. He came to Oklahoma Territory in 1900 from Darlington, Mo. In 1901 he filed on his farm in Roger Mills County, Oklahoma, where he spent the remainder of his life. He leaves to mourn his passing two daughers, Nannie Lutz of Mound Valley, Kansas, Rosetta Boswell of Cheyenne, Oklahoma, and two sons, Guy Hensley of Durhaam, Okla.; Landon Hensley of Crawford, Okla.; 18 grandchildren and four great grandchildren; 3 brothers, John and George Hensley of Grant City, Mo., and Jim Hensley of Nebraska and a host of other relatives and friends. Surnames: Headdy Classification: Obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/5YB.2ACE/2605 Message Board Post: Last Tuesday morning April 12, 1917 about 1 o'clock, William Headdy, who resides about five miles east of Berlin, son and daughter received burns that resulted in their death, when the Headdy residence caught fire and was destroyed together with all its contents. The origin of the fire is unknown. the Headdy fmaily awakened only aftger the house had burned to the point of collapsing. In the confusion for a while the absence of one of the childre was not noticed. When it was found that one of the children was till in the burning structure, Mr. Headdy, disregarding the fact that almost certain death would be the result went through the flames to the bed where his small son way lying nearly suffocated by the smoke and bore him outside. However, both he and son were burned so badly that death soon followed. The little girl died Tuesday night. The fourth of the Headdy family who were victims of the fire died Sunday evening. The child was 10 years old. It was thought for some tiem that eh child would recover but life lingered only for a short while and departed on the evening of April 22, 1917. The remains were laid quietly away in the Berlin Cemetery, Berlin, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma by the side of the others of the family who had gone before. The Star extends its utmost sympathy to the bereaved mother.

Blurton of Crawford and two that died in infancy. Mrs. Handy was converted when 18 years of age and lived a consistant Christian life to the end. Funeral services were held at the Baptist church of Crawford, by Rev. J.F. Curtis, and the remains laid to rest in the Fairview cemetery, near Durham, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma. Good bye, Sister Handy, we miss you here but we would not have you return, for we know that you have a building of God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. He passed away suddenly after suffering a severe heart attack at 6:00 o'clock a.m. Thursday morning. Mr. Haigh taught school in Roger Mills County for several years, later serving as County Superintendent of Schools for eight years, and for the past nine years he has served as County Treasurer. He was married to Agnes Dixon in September, 1894 and to this union were born four children, Ruby and Vera who preceded him in death and two sons, Ernie and Ted who are living in Cheyenne. He has one brother living, Jim Haigh of Coyle, Oklahoma, who was present at the funeral, two sisters Mrs. Nim Bowman of Cheyenne, and Mrs. Aimie Brwer of Mesa, Arizona, four grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was a faithful member of the Church of Christ, was very loyla and upright in dealing with the public and was counted as one of the outstanding citizens of Roger Mills County. His friends were counted by those who knew him. Funeral services were conducted by W.H. Farris of Elk City and the present pastor of the Church of Christ at Cheyenne, Friday, September 19, 1947 at the Baptist church in Cheyenne. He was laid to rest beside his wife, who departed this life June 3, 1944, interment being made in the Cheyenne cemetery, Cheyenne, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma with the Tunnard Funeral Home in charge. Guthrie, well known citizen of Strong City died suddenly from heart failure last Sunday afternoon January 8, 1925. His death came as a great shock to his friends and relatives. Mr. John B. Guthrie was born in the northern part of Georgia on February 9, 1857. When he was just a lad he joined the Methodist church, South and was faithful to his church and to Him that knoweth all things, until the day of his death. He married Miss Sallie Thornton in 1879 and was blessed by sons, Oscar, Henry, Aaron, John Custis, Frank and William all of these precede him but the last two. His second marriage was to Mrs. Addie Tadlock of Purdon, Texas, October 28, 1902. To this union were born three children, Grace, Pearl and Forrest. Besides these there survie three brothers, William, Robert and dean, one sister, Mrs. Mary Gillispie, all in Oklahoma. Funeral services were conducted at the Methodist church in Strong City Tuesday by Bro.Grimes of Cheyenne. The remains were then taken to Dempsey cemetery, Dempsey, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma where they were laid to rest.

Those present from a distance were a son from Ponca City and a grandson, Raymond Tunnard and wife of Oklahoma City. The remains were laid to rest in the Cheyenne cemetery, Cheyenne, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma beneath a floral covered mound, the flowers bestowed in esteem of the life of the deceased. The many friends of the Tunnards in Cheyenne join in extending condolence to them in their bereavement. (Headstone reads Born 1840 Died 1927)

He moved with his parents to Garden Grove, Iowa, when a small boy. Later the family moved to LaCrosse, Kansas, where he grew to manhood. It was here he married Lena Hondrick on November 19, 1891. To this union six children were born. Mr. Guernsey participated in the opening of the Cherokee Strip and remained there until 1900, when they moved to their present home in the old Custer Bend community, near Cheyenne, Oklahoma, (now adjacent to Strong City.) On December 4, 1909, death called Mrs. Guernsey to her heavenly home, thus leaving Mr. Guernsey to be both father and mother to the children a task which he did well, as the lives of the children testify. Mr. Guernsey accepted Christ many years ago and he with his wife became a charter member of t! he Custer Bend Baptist Church; this church has since become known as the Strong City Baptist church. His membership was in this church at the time of his death. He is survived by his six children and one sister, four daughters, Mrs. Lee Caffey of Mangum, Oklahoma, Mrs Orran Anderson of Enid, Oklahoma, Mrs.G.E. Innes of Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, Miss Pauline Guernsey of the home. Two sons, Lowell Guernsey of Strong City, Oklahoma, Curt Guernsey of Oklahoma City, Oklahoam, one sister, Mrs. W.H. Walker of Dighton, Kansas, nine grandchildren, a host of other relatives and friends. Burial Strong City cemetery, Strong City, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma. (Cheyenne Star, Jan., 9, 1946)

On last Thursday morning about 9 o'clock, January 15, 1925, while the father, Arthur Gray, was moving his truck during the loading of it with broom corn, he had two bales on, and ran over his little son, A.L. Gray, Jr., aged 3 years 7 months and 14 days. Before starting the truck Mr. Gray told his two boys to stand to one side and he saw them standing side by side before starting the truck, and soon the older boy, who is about six years old, cried, that little A.L. is killed. The father found his little boy ling under the truck, the solid tired rubber wheel had passed over the boy's chest, and picking up the little boyd carried it to the house. Dr. Cary, of Rankin, was sent for and when he arrived he found he had died soon after the body was crushed. Little A.L.'s funeral was the following day at 2 p.m J.M. Vines preaching the sermon in Rankin Methodist church and burial in Rankin (White Rose) cemetery, Reydon, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma. Arthur Gray and family have lived in the Rankin community over six years, coming here from Strong City. They first lived four miles west of Rankin and last few years lived on the John A. Vincent farm in Texas, about ten miles northwest of Rankin. A.L. Jr., was born in Roger Mills County, Oklahoma, June 1, 1921. He leaves to mourn his untimely death his father and mother, one brother and four sisters. The entire community mourns and sympaties with this bereaved family. (Cheyenne Star, Jan 22, 1925)
