Funeral services were held in Durham Tuesday morning in presence of a very large crowd. When a young man his father died and he was the support of hismother and two sisters doing for them all a father and brother could. The mother did not last long, but of the sisters, Mrs. Amanda Steele who had made her home here at Rankin with her brother, passed away in 1913 and Mrs. William Darby died in Salem, Oregon in 1928. Mr. Rankin came to Oklahoma in 1901 and homesteaded the farm on which Rankin was situated until 1926 when it was moved to the present site. He built the first store and established the postoffice. Perhaps no man did more for a community in such an unobtrusive way as "Uncle Tommie" as he has been effectionately called. Many an early settler found in him a real friend when he sorely needed one. Honored above the ususal, of those in the common walks of life, he deserved the respect of all. Mr. Rankin joined the Presbyterian church when a young man and when located in his new home here, helped to organize the Methodist church which he ten joined and has been a most devoted attendant and earest follower of his Lord. The funeral services were held in the Methodist church at 11 a.m. conducted by the pastor, Rev. French Lancaster and the body was laid to rest beside that of his sister in Rankin White Rose cemetery, Reydon, Roger Mills County, on Sunday June 9, 1929. Thus passes from our midst another of the makers of Western Oklahoma history. (Cheyenne Star July 13, 1929)

He was born at Mountain View Oklahoma, January 2, 1899, and was afflicted with meningitis at eight days old, leaving him an invalid, and remained in this afflicted state furing his entire life. All recognize the fact that he is much better off now as he is basking in the sunshine of God's holy presence. It seems that he was only born into this world to suffer and die, but the Father has a purpose in bringing George Raymond into the world and we feel that, that mission has been performed and God has said it is enough and has taken him home. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Prestridge Classification: Obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/5YB.2ACE/2662 Message Board Post: On Sunday June the 5th, 1932 just at the close of day, the death Angel came and called little Marguerette Louise Prestridge away. The little daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Larkin Prestridge, Louise, had been with these proud parents, brothers and sisters since December 16, 1931. Baby Louise had suffered more than two weeks from a spider bite. On Tuesday Mary 24, they brought her to the home of Senator and Mrs. Alvin Moore that she might be near the doctor, but with all the care that the doctors and loving hands could do, the great GTime-Keeper took our little rose and transplatned her among the roses that never wither or die. And since she has gone where she feels no pain, let us not indulge in too much gried. The soul is incapabel of death. And she, like a bird not long enough in her cage to become attached to it, is free to fly away to purer air. For when the young die, their souls go at once to a better and Divine state. Since we cherish a trust like this, let our outward actions be in accord with it, and let us keep our hears pure and our minds calm. The Peraly Gates were opened, A gentle voice said come, And with faarewells unspoken She calmly entered home. (Cheyenne Star June 9, 1932)

They took with them some coffee and other things to eat and also a target to hunt with. they had spent the day very pleasantly until about 3 o'clock when something went wrong with the gun. Little LaRoy Graves had the gun and was attempting in his childish way, to fix it, when Arley Penrod one of the party, walked in front of the gun just as LaRoy pulled on the triger the bullet took effect in the heart of Arley and death was instantaneous. All of the boys excetp LaRoy came to towm for a doctor, he alone stayed to render what ever assistance he could to his littleplaymate. It was not long until he was convinced that Arley was dead, and he then came to town broken hearted over the fact that he had killed his playmate. LaRoy is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Graves of Magdalena N.M., who recently arrived in this city to visit. Arley Penrod was the little 12 year old son of Mrs. Penrod of our town. This should prove a lesson to little boys as well as to parents. Guns, though they be of a small calibre are dangerous. A twenty-two target will kill just as quickly as a high powered rifle, therefor should not be placed in the hands of children. Rev. Dellinger of Arapahoe, pastor of the presbyterian church at this place conducted the funeral services at the Methodist church Monday afternoon. The remains were laid to rest in the Cheyenne cemetery, Cheyenne, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma. (Cheyenne Star December 20, 1917)
