Mr. Stauber had suffered an illness earlier in the evening at his home in this city and was taken to Sayre to see a doctor but died while waiting. Funeral services for Mr. Stauber were conducted Saturday afternoon at the Crawford high school auditorium with Rev. A.L. Oden, pastor of the Pentacostal Holiness church of Cheyenne and Rev. A.L. Martin officiating. Burial was in the Silent Home cemetery, Roll, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of the Scroggins Funeral Home of Cheyenne. Robert Joseph Stauber was born in Lynn County, Missouri July 17, 1877 and departed this life November 20, 1947 at the age of 70 years, four months and three days. He was married to Miss Belle Thompson on December 24, 1905 at Roll, Oklahoma, where they resided most of the time since. To this union five children were born, all of whom are living. They are Mrs. Ruth Blackstock, Lamesa,Texas; Mrs. Ena Hobdy, Espanola, New Mexico; Mrs. Bobbie Wooten, Avant, Oklahoma; Mrs. Marjorie Martin, who resides on the old homestead aat Roll; and one son, J.W. stauber of Espanola, New Mexico. Surviving also are four sons-in-law and 14 grandchildren, all of whom were present for the funeral. Present also were a number of brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nephews and nieces and a host of other relatives. Mr. Stauber was among the pioneers of this county having come here in 1902 at which time he filed on a place 1 1/2 miles north of Roll. His friends were numbered by his acquaintances. Snyder was born in Crawford County, Saeger Town, Pa., Born August 9, 1862,Died January 12, 1925 age 62 years, 5 months and 4 days. He was the son of William and Sarah Snyder. The family moved to Va from Pa. when he was 8 years of age and lived there for 3 years. Then they moved back to Pa. They resided there until 1877. Then they moved near Mitchellville, Iowa, where he lived until 1903 then he moved near Rankin, Oklahoma where he has lived since. His parents both died in Iowa. Elmer was the first of the children to die. There are remaining seven children, Cecelia Snyder of near Midway, Oklahoma, Almena Keefusof, Howe, Ind., William A. Snyder of Kimberley British Columbia, Mrs. Mary Johnson off Audubon, Iowa, Mrs. Flora reynolds of Bertha, Mo., Mrs. Cevelia E. Egan of Hamlin, Iowa, Mrs. Susan K. Miller of Rankin, Oklahoma. He also leaves a great many other friends and relatives of Iowa and Oklahoma. He joined the Evengelical church in 1903, transferring church letter to Rankin, Oklahoma. He was always a strong believer in the gospel of Christ. He made a strong avowal of Faith in Pentecostal Holiness experience, a change of heart and purpose, this being in October. He died at the home of his sister Mrs. Susan Miller, coming there on Thursday night and dying on Monday January 12, 1925, nearly 10 o'clock at night, of pneumonia and heart trouble. He had not been very well for ten days, but continued going about and doing his work until Thursday night. I have reason to believe that he died in Christ as he seemed so changed since October. Smallwood of Hammon was instantly killed last Firday morning September 7, 1931 about 8:30 by a bolt of lightning during a severe electric storm that visisted the town of Hammon early Friday. Another young man, John Horst of Butler was badly burned by the bolt and is not expected to recover, according to information given out by doctors at the Butler hospital where he is being treated. From reliable information, it seems that four ment were at work on the new residence of Gus Eakins, or rather at the building at the time of the storm when the bolt of lighting struck two of the four and unharmed two of the men. It is said that a hole was burned through the hat of young Horst and one sole was knocked off of his shoe, or completely burned up by lightning. A barn south of town of Hammon was destroyed by lightning, an another bolt did considerable damage to another residence in the town. Residents of hammon say that this was the worst electric storm that ever was known there. (Headstone reads Born April 13, 1914 Died September 7, 1931) (Cheyenne Star September 10, 1931)

Henry Walter Simmons was born August 27, 1880, died April 21, 1929, age 48 years, 8 months and 4 days. He was married to Miss Emma Morton June 9, 1901, to this union were born three children, Margaret Elizabeth who died in infancy, Mrs. R.H. Kendall and Lola Simmons both of Cheyenne, Oklahoma. The wife of the deceased preceeded him in death March 2, 1906. In 1907 he married Miss Lena Clark and to this union were born seven children, Mrs. N.H. Baahr, St. Louis, Mo.; Clarence and Lloyd Simmons, Tucson, Arpzona; Floyd Simmons, LeFors, Texas; Mary and Elizabeth Simmons, Foss, Oklahoma; L.W. Simmons, Joplin, Texas. The wife of the deceased preceeded him in death March 30, 1921. His daughter Lola, went to Tucson recently, where he had gone for his health and he requested that he be moved to Oklahoma to spend his last days and he also requested that his body be laid to rest in the Red Hill cemetery, Hammon, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma. During the last week of his illness he professed belief in Christ and was bpatized by Rev. Tom Brobham, the Methodist minister of pampa, Texas. The deceased leaves nine children; one grand-daughter, two brothers, G.W. Simmons of Little Blue, Mo., and A.W. Simmons of LeFors, Texas and two sisters Mrs. Wiley Gunter and Mrs. Elmer Wilker of Elk City, Oklahoma, als oa host of nephews, nieces and a great host of friends. A beautiful funeral service was conducted by Rev. Rhoads, the Methodist minister of Cheyenne, Oklahoma, Manday April 22, 1929, at the Red Hill Cemetery, Hammon, Oklahoma. The Hammon choir conducted the son service which was beautifully rendered. There was an immense gathering for an outside service people from distances as, Foss, Carpenter, Strong City, Elk City, Cheyenne and Pampa, Texas, also many friends from Hammon and surrounding country. Her condition was not though serious at first, but an examination by a physician revealed the fact that she was affected with blood poision, and all hope for her life was given up. Her body was buried in the Cheyenne cemetery, Cheyenne, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma Saturday, with Elder W.C. Morris conducting the funeral services. The Star extends condolence to those bereaved. Burial White Rose Cemetery, Reydon, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma (Cheyenne Star, Dec. 25, 1947) RE-BURIAL OF FIRST COUNTY RETURNED WAR DEAD Services fo the first of Roger Mills County's war casualties to be returned for reburial was conducted at Reydon last Friday. Services for Pfc. Floyd LeRoy Scriner were held at the Community Building last Friday. Burial was in the White Rose cemetery, Reydon, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma with the Reydon American Legion post in charge of the burial ceremony. Scriner was killed in March of 1945. He enlised in July of 1943 and was 20 years of age at the time of his death. Survivors are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Benton F. Scrivner of Reydon; three sisters, Mrs. Edith Hooper of Perryton, Texas, Mrs. Myrtle Glass of Newton, Kansas and Miss Orma Lee Scriner of Reydon; six brothers survive who are Clifford, Martin, James, Ralph, Ora and Donald Wayne, all of Reydon.

Don Anderson, pastor of the Baptist church of Cheyenne officiating. Burial was in the Silent Home cemetery, Roll, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of the Scroggins Funeral Home of Cheyenne. Mr. Schmidt died suddenly at his home in Cheyenne, Wednesday January 26, 1949 at the age of 80 years. Paul August Schmidt was born in Coline, Germany, April 15, 1868. He came to Guthrie County, Iowa at the age of 25 years and was soon naturalized as an American citizen. In j1901 he was married to Marie Dora Bornemann. To this union one son and one daughter were born. Fred and Amelia. In 1920 he moved to Weatherford, Oklahoma where he entered the bakery business and resided for twelve years. In 1932 he returned to Crawford where he resided until four years ago when he moved to Cheyenne where he resided until his death. Survivors include his wife of Cheyenne, the son, Fred Schmidt of Crawford, the daughter Mrs. Hugh West of Albuquerque, New Mexico, three grandchildren, Ronald Schmidt, Regina Schmidt and Aleta Schmidt, all of Crawford. Mr. Schmidt was a member of the Lutheran church. (Cheyenne Star Feb. 3, 1949)

Sawyer was born January 22, 1926, departed from this life Monday morning August 12, 1929 at 6 o'clock, age 3 years 6 months and 24 days. Little C.W., named after his father, was the light of the home for nearly 4 years. He leaves to mourn his departure, father, mother, 2 brothers and 2 sisters and 1 brother who passed away in infancy. When the family went on their visit this summer little C.W. was a favorite with all. On returning he was taken ill with pneumonia and passed away leaving a heaart broken family. Funeral services were held at the Square Top school house by Bro. Goins of Roll. Saunders who has made Cheyenne his home since 1904 dropped dead in the Shoe hospital last Saturday afternoon. He seemed in every respect enjoying his usual health until the moment that he passed from life. A.T. Saunders, better known as "Dad Saunders" has lived somewhat of a hermit life never having married, and has for a number of years lived by himself. He was a man who kept his own counsel, and hardly engaged in conversation with anyone. However he was well informed and was always on the side of right on every question, and always did what ever duty was assigned to him, or that he felt he should do. His was an example of right living, without telling of his virtues or parading any of his charities before the world. He was a member of Cheyenne I.O.O.F. lodge and also a member of the Eucampment branch of the order of Cheyenne. The subordinate lodge had charge of the funeral ceremony which waas conducted at the Baptist church. The funeral sermon was preached by Rev. donnell, pastor of the Baptist church at this place. After the ceremoines at the church the body was taken to the Cheyenne cemetery, Cheyenne, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma where the Odd Fellows performed their concluding ceremonies and tenderly laid his body to rest. Alfred Thomas Saunders was born in Paducah, Ky., January 2, 1853. He left Ky. for Texas when yet young, living in Dallas and Stephens Co., until he came to Cheyenne in 1904. He was converted and joined the Baptist church in Breckenridge, Texas when 25 years old. CARD OF THANKS We desire to thank all those who assisted by acts of kindness in the care and burial of A.T. Saunders, our uncle. We especially desire to thank the Odd Fellows of Cheyenne for their services of love. He was a small boy when he left Tenn. and moved to Texas. Later he went to Beaver County, Oklahoma where he resided two years then moved to El Reno, Oklahoma. From there he came to Roger Mills County in 1902 and bought a farm 5 miles south of old Rankin. He resided there until 1918 when he went to Colorado, from there he moved to San Diego, California. While at Calexico, California he had sunstroke and passed to his reward on July 30, 1931. He leaves to mourn his loss, mother, Mrs. Mattie Rowen of Norman, 6 sisters, Maude King, Lula Stephenson, Una George, Gladys Corbitt, Clara Rowen, all of Norman, Oklahoma; Laura Powell of El Reno, and four brothers, Edgar of Claremore, Oklahoma, Cecil of ponca City, Charlie of Reydon and Claude of Cheyenne and a host of other relatives and friends. He was 49 years, 5 months and 15 days old. Oscar Rowen during his life time in this county lived a life exemplifying the big hearted pioneer that he was. He was a hard working, honest citizen, always ready to lend a helping hand to those needing assistance. As a neighbor there was none better. He possessed a sunny disposition, yet out of his big heart flowed tender sympathy for those in sorrow. He never failed to shed sympathizing tear with those in sorrow and offer consolation to those needing comfort. Oscar was a man who never spoke evil of his neighbors, but to the contrary always found something good in everyone. He was an absolute believer in fair play in all of his business dealings, always refusing to take advantage of his associates. He was a man who could always be depended upon to shoulder his share of responsibilities, in fact it was hard to keep him from assuming more than his share. He was a true and loyal, upright citizen. Funeral services were conducted in Cheyenne Wednesday afternoon in the presence of a host of friends, after which interment was made in the Cheyenne Cemetery, Cheyenne, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma.

Mr. J.F. Robertson and Mary E. Lewark were married October 28, 1881 in Grundy Centre Iowa in the First Baptist Church. Mrs. Robertson was baptized into the primitive Baptist church when just a girl and lived a life of service to others being a splendid nurse for years and saving many lives through her knowledge of medicine. Until her later years she was active in church and Sunday school. She had a host of friends in all the different places where she had lived. She leaves to mourn her loss, her husband, J.F. Robertson, her daughter, Mrs. Cleve Payn,e six grandchildren and four great grand children. Her four grandsons carried her casket to its final resting place. The services were held Sunday morning at eleven o'clock at the Baptist church. Bro. Bradley preached a fine sermon using as a text Mrs. Robertson's favorite verse of scripture, "His Lord said unto him! , well done thou good and faithful servant, thou good and faithful servant, thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things; enter thou into the joy of thy Lord". Mrs. Tunnard sang "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere". Mrs. Robertson was born in Madison County, Indiana and lived in seven different states leaving loving friends in many communities. She just laid down her liffe work here and went home to dwell with her loved ones who have gone before. She has gone to join her Savior Over on the other shore But she leaves loving memories In our hearts forevermore. (Cheyenne Star Nov 12, 1931)

It was the death of Miss Mary Roberts, at the local hospital. Her death, we are informed came from heartfailure following an operation. Mary Roberts was a young lady still in her teens, charming and lovable admired by all who knew her. The writer has known Mary from infancy having seen her grow to young womanhood and has loved and admired her for her beautiful traits of character. She was reared by her grand parents Mr. and Mrs John Anderson of near Redmoon who worshiped her. She was a member of the Methodist church at this place, having united with that congregation in 1915 and lived a consecrated life. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. McCleskey, pastor of the Methodist church and the remains laid to rest in the Cheyenne cemetery, Cheyenne, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma Thursday afternoon. We grieve with her loved ones because of her untimely demise. But why grieve, she rests? ( Headstone reads Born Dec. 9, 1898 Died May 16, 1918)

She leaves to mourn her departure, a father and mother, one sister and two brothers, four grandparents, and a host of other relatives and friends. The relatives from a distance who attended the funeral, were: Mr. and Mrs. John Rice and Arnold sanve of Tulsa; Mr. Jack, Mr. and Mrs. Overton and son, Mrs A.W. Yount, Carl Jack, Kenneth Jack, Mrs. Pearl Davidson of Oklahoma City; Walter Jack and wife of Jones, Oklahoma; Jim Jack of Choctaw; H.E. Rice and wife of Elk City; Alva Jack of Grimes. Little Fay was a sweet little girl and dearly loved by her schoolmates and teachers. It was Oh so hardz to give her up and we can not see why, but some day, somehwere, we'll understand. In that beatuiful place he has gone to prepare. For all who are washed and forgiven. And many dear children are gatering there, For of such is the Kingdom of Heaven. Simpson, about six miles southwest of of this place, died of heartfailure lat Monday afternoon. He had gone out after an armload of wood and was reutrning to the house when he fell deat. When found he was lying on hit face still clinging to the wood. The remains were laid to rest in the Cheyenne cemetery, Cheyenne, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma Tuesday afternoon.
