The Cheyenne Star, Box 250, Cheyenne, OK 73628 at $20 a year features a weekly column entitled "100 Years Ago" which was begun one year ago. The reviews have been good and it continues with highlights and lots of names in the news. You might want to subscribe. The County Genealogical Society still offers to do research and lookups for anyone researching people in Roger Mills County. They don't charge an arm and a leg, just the expenses of copying plus $2---can't beat that! Many books are available for research - some are out of print - such as: Cheyenne Centennial Book, Glen Crane's Cemetery Book with biographies; 101 One Room School Book; Klina Casady's Once Every Five Years; Durham Roots; History of Meridian; Hammon News; History of Berlin; Prairie Fire and Prairie Wedding; History of the Masonic Lodge, Methodist Church and Baptist Churches. The Society is offering annual memberships in January for $15 per year which includes the quarterly Journal mailed to you. Their address is Roger Mills Co Genealogical Society, Box 205, Cheyenne, OK 73628. The last issue highlighted the communities of Kiowa, Hammon and Herring. Last year the editors tried to highlight different communities in our county. Back copies are available at $4 (includes postage). The Old Settler's Reunion will be held April 16-20, 2002 and this is a celebration of the Land Run -- the Old Settler's Queen has to be of the lineage of a land runner.
