Hester, 75 year old retired farmer and officer, were held at the Elk City First Baptist church, Sunday with Rev. Albert Trent of Hammon officiating. Born January 6, 1882, in Alabama, Mr. Hester died Friday, July 5, 1957, in the Western Oklahoma hospital after an illness of 18 months. He was married to Julia Mae Walls in 1904 in Cleburne, Texas. She preceded him in death December 22, 1929. On December 25, 1939, he was married to Mrs. Iva Huntley at Cheyenne, who survives. Mr. Hester came to Oklahoma in 1911 and settled in Roger Mills county. He served as county sheriff for eight years, later moving to Elk City. Mr. Hester united with the Baptist church early in life. Survivors include his wife, five sons, five daughters, one brother, 26 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildre. Interment was in the Red Hill cemetery, Hammon, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma. He came with his parents to Oklahoma in 1907 and settled in the Sweetwater and later Dempsey community where he spent his life as a farmer and rancher. He and his family spent one year near Rogers, Arkansas, 1936, returning to the Dempsey community where he lived continously afterwards. He had faith in God at all time, and said many times he had been helped by praying to God for help, and we know he made his peace with God, because of the things he told us, so we have no fear of where he is today. On December 13, 1915 he was married to Maudie Isch at Cheyenne. To them was born 5 children, all of whom were present in his last hours. His father, mother, two sisters and one brother preceded him in death. He leaaves to mourn his passing his wife, Maudie Henson of the home address, Grimes, three daughters, Mrs. Bessie Daugherty and Mrs. Dewey Daugherty of Grimes, and Mrs. Velma Franklin of Cordell, two sons, Elmer Glenn Henson of Ft. Hood, Texas, now enroute to Germany, and Dale Henson of Hereford, Texas, ten grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Jewell Mabry of Longview, Texas, a brother, Jessie F. Henson of Ft. Worth, Texas, nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, October 8, 1957, at the Dempsey community building with Rev. James Wilkerson officiating. She was baptised in the Catholic faith when an infant, and confirmed at the aage of 14 years. She was married to John Hamlin, at Ceneterville, Iowa, and they moved to Kansas, then to Colorado. There her husband was taken ill, and they returned to Ceneterville, Iowa, where he died. She was married on January 27, 1927, to Johnnie Hawthorne aat Sayre, Oklahoma. They lived on the home place near Crawford. After the death of Mr. Hawthorne she sold the farm and moved to Cheyenne. This was in 1943. She died in the Cheyenne hospital Wednesday morning, February 13, 1957, and was buried buried for St. Joseph's Church Feburary 14, 1957. Interment in Fairview cemetery, Durham, OK

Burial was in the Cheyenne cemetery, Cheyenne, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of Scroggins Funeral Home of Cheyenne. Henry Harrison was born at Tyrone, Missour, February 28, 1888, to Aquilla and Alice Harrison. He passed away at his home at 7:15, February 6, 1957, afer a lengthy illness. Mr. Harrison came to Roger Mills county in 1906 and was united in marriage to Minnie L. McCaskill in 1909. To this union were born four sons and five daughters. One infant daughter, Ethel LaFaye, preceded him in death. She moved with her parents to Kansas in 1891 where she lived until 1900. She then moved to Oklahoma and lived in the Midway community until a few years ago when she moved to Durham. In 1954 she went to Cheyenne where she resided until her death. She passed away at the home of her niece Mrs. Albert Hartley near Reydon, February 19, 1956. She leaves three brothers, Sam Gillispie, Elk City; Tom Gillispie, Shamrock, Texas; and Lawrence Gillispie, Fresno, California; one sister, Mrs. Linnie Hickerson of Bosworth, Missouri;; nineteen nephews and nieces, other relatives and a host of friends. Two brothers preceded her in death. Miss Gillispie was a Christian and spent much of her life in unselfish service for those near and dear to her. Gilliland, farmer and rancher of the Grimes community, died Thursday morning November 10, 1955 following a lenghty illness. He was born November 24, 1876, in Missouri. He was married February 4, 1909, to Virgie Mount at Cheyenne. Mr. Gilliland came to western Oklahoma in 1905 and homesteaded in the Grimes community and had lived there since. He was one of western Oklahoma pioneers. He was a member of the Baptist Church. He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Mildred Sweet of Miami, Texas, and Mrs. Doris Johnanna Bowers of Cheyenne, two sons, Robert of Las Vegas, Nevada and Louis of Hartley, Texas. Thirteen grandchildren and a brother, Monte Gilliland of Strong City also survive. Funeral services were held on Saturday, November 12, 1955 at the Dempsey community building. In 1909 they moved to Roger Mills county, near Crawford and he made his home here until November of 1954, when he was united in marriage to Clara Whistler of Palisade, Coloraado where he made his home until death. Mr. Gilliland was converted in the Nazarene church in 1923. He leaves to mourn his death his wife of the home address, one daughter, Emma Keahey, and one son, Frank Gilliland both of Crawford, two grandchildren, Velma Keahey and Maxine Thomas, two sisters, Ina Boyd of Waverly, Kansas, and Sadie Graham, Willowbrook, California, two brothers, Walter H. Gilliland of Luling, Texas and Charles R. Gilliland of Crawford, several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. Burial was in White Rose Cemetery, Reydon, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma with Rev. Sanford Cole presiding at the graveside. "Buzz" was the son of Mr. and Mrs. F.M. Estes of Reydon, and was born August 15, 1933 at Reydon and passed away August 7, 1955, at the age of 21 years, 11 months, and 23 days. He graduated from Durham high school in 1952. After completing high school Buzz first decided to go to college, but soon changed his mind because he wanted to be at home and help his father with the farm work. Becuase of the happiness and success he found in his work on the farm, and the pleasure he found in his many friends and relatives, Buzz lived a very happy but short life. He leaves to mourn, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. F.M. Estes, one brother, Teddy Martin Estes, of Reydon; four sisters, Patsy Ruth Burks of Reydon, Jolene Keller of Tulsa, Frankye Belle Burton of Cactus, Texas, and Rosemarie Estes of Reydon. She departed this life August 24, 1956, at a hospital in Woodward at the age of 43 years, 8 months and 6 days. She was married to Dan Dovell in 1929. To this union were born two sons, Donald Dee and Jasper Lee. Jetta spent her girlhood in the Durham community. She accepted Christ as her Saviour at an early age and became a member of the Methodist church. After he marriage she lived at Borger, Texas and at Grass Valley, California. She was living again at Durham when her health failed and she entered the hospital at Woodward for medical care. Her health improved very much and thew doctors gave her family promise of her soon return to her home. But an attack of heart failure, August 24, 1956, ended her life and the plans her loved ones had for her. Memorial services were held at the Baptist church in Durham August 28, 1956 Rev. Laverne Campbell officiating. Interment was in Fairview cemetery, Durham, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma. She was preceded in death by her father, two sisters and two brothers. He came to western Oklahoma in 1902 and settled near Reydon. On April 14, 1903 he was united in marriage to Mary Alice Funston at Cheyenne. He, with his family, moved to Missouri where they lived until 1911, then moved back to Reydon where he has lived since, being one of western Oklahoma's pioneers. He had been a member of the First Christian Church since he was 18 years of age. He is survived by his wife, Mary Alice Denton, of the home address in Reydon, the daughter, Mrs. Elea Clay, of Reydon, five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Bell Funston of Phoenix, Arizona, one brother, A.L. Denton of Alabama, other relatives and a host of friends. His father and mother preceded him in death. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Horace Woodard Sunday, August 28, 1955 in the Community building at Reydon. Burial was in White Rose Cemetery, Reydon, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma. All the grandchildren and the great granchildren were present. They are Mr. and Mrs. Jake Coym, Barbara, Jackie and David of Bethany, Mr. and Mrs. H.S. Webb, Linda, Nancy, Mike and Jerry of oklahoma City, Lee Clay of Amarillo, Texas, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Clay and Oma LaRae of Miami, Texas, and Miss Mary Agnes Clay of Reydon. Other relatives attending the funeral services were Mr. Denton's sister, Mr. and Mrs. J.T. Clifford of Pleasant Hill, Missouri, her brother, Mr. and Mrs. J.L. Funston of Canyon, Texas, and nephew, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Funston of Amarillo, Texas, also Mr. and Mrs John Coym of Durham, Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Provines of Weatherfdord, Mr. and Mrs. Don Robison and children of pampa, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Sides and sons of Durham, and Mrs. F.B. Yowell of Sayre. Cheyenne Star, Cheyenne, OK
