His early life was spent in West Texas as a rancher coming to Oklahoma in 1925, of which most of that time has been in the Cheyenne and Crawford communities. He joined the Methodist church early in life. Survivors include 4 sons; J.D., Bill, John, and George; 4 daughters; Marjorie King, Allene Penrod, Marilena Fritch and Kathryn Talley, also 20 grandchildren, his wife and daughter, Betty Jo Baker, preceded him in death. On May 4, 1904 she was married to James L. Mitchell and to this union were born nine children. One daughter, Betty Jo Baker, preceded her in death on August 8, 1956. She was a devoted wife and mother and life-long member of the Methodist church. She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, four sons J.D., Bill, John, George and four daughters, Marjorie King, Alene Penrod, Marilena Fritch, Kathryn Talley, 20 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren and a great number of friends. Services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, december 29, 1960 in the Methodist church in Cheyenne with Rev. A.L. Martin of Crawford officiating. Interment was in the Silent Home cemetery, Roll, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma. The Mitchells resided in Roger Mills County for a number of years before moving to Hobart a few years ago. Survivors are three daughters, Mrs. Myrtle Donaldson, Cheyenne; Mrs. Mary Hall, Homa, Louisianna, Mrs. Iva Cross, Elmoore City; three sons, George of Eureka, California, Lester of Cheyenne, Chester of Pampa, Texas, one brother, Node Green, Springtfield, Missouri. She is survived by 28 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren and 23 great great grandchildren. When a small boy he moved with his parents to Missouri and in 1899 he came to Oklahoma and in 1900 he filed on his present homestead and has lived in this community since that time. He was married to Sallie Robins Bleeker on December 2, 1907 at Poteau, Oklahoma. To this union were born five children: Two sons and three daughters. He was baptized into the Church of Christ early in life. He was preceded in death by his wife, one daughter and two brothers. Survivors are two sons, Edward of Dempsey and Clarence of Berlin, two daughters, Lorene Redfern, Portland, Oregon and Loudene Powers of Dos Palos, Claifornia; one step-daughter, Leslia Winters of Portland, Oregon and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mangold. Flossie Helen Keller came to the Durham community with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Keller in 1900. There she attended shcool completing the eight graade after which she attended county normal schools and became a teacher of Roger Mills County. On November 2, 1912 she was married to C.O. (Ott) Mangold, also of the Durham community. To this union four children were born, one of which, George Washington is deceased. The surviving children are Mary Jo Marshall, Tucson, Arizona, Floy Gene Christopher, lieutenant colonle in the Navy, New York City and Charles Otto Mangold, Pampa, Texas. Also surviving is a sister Opal White of Edwards, Washington and two grandchildren. Her husband preceded her in death by a few months.. Mrs. Mangold resided in the Durham community until 1929 when the family moved to Reydon where they operated a hotel until 1935. They then moved to Clinton which was their home until 1956. Since that time, Mrs. Mangold and her husband had resided in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Pampa, Texas and Elk City. Soon after the death of her husband, Mrs. Mangold came to the Convalescent Hospital in Cheyenne where she spent the last few months preceding her death from cancer from which she had suffered a number of years. Rev. Richard E. Gibbens, pastor of the Methodist church in Elk City where she held membership, preached the funeral services. She was laid to rest in the Fairview cemetery, Durham, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma by the side of her husband with Scroggins of Cheyenne directing the service Saturday, August 5, 1961. Flossie was an energetic person who loved people and life itself. Her cheerful disposition, and her natural wit added cheer to the lives of many. During her long illness she enjoyed visitors of which she had many, and always greeted each one with a cheery remark and enjoyed conversing with each one. Born to this union were two sons and two daughters. They are Mrs. Mary Joe Marshall, Tucson, Arizona, Mrs. Floy Jean Christopher, New York, N.Y., charles Otto Mangold, Jr., Pampa, Texas and George Washington Mangold who preceded him in death in 1923. Ott spent most of his married life in Durham. he moved to Reydon May 30, 1929 when Reydon was being built. He moved to Clinton in 1935 and to Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1956. He was living in Elk City at the time of his death April 13, 1961. He is survived by his wife, Flossie who is in the Convalescent hosital in Cheyenne, his two daughters and one son. He had been in ill health for the past 2 1/2 years, but seriously ill since July, this year. He was married to Elizabeth Williams in Polk county, Missouri in 1882. She preceded him in death January 20, 1908. Mr. Kepley was a charter member of the Odd Fellows lodge in Cheyenne. Mr. Kepley moved from Issouri to Texas in 1889, then in 1894 moved to Allen, Oklahoma, where he lived until moving to Roger Mills county where he homesteaded near Strong City. He lived there until moving to Elk City in 1960. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Myrtle Caffey, Strong City; a son, Henry S. Kepley, Elk City; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Alice Garrett, Elk City; a brother, A.P. Kepley, Clovis, California; five grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 11 great great grandchildren. Mrs. Kenmore came from Texas, with her parents, one brother and one sister to Olustee, Oklahoma while a young lady. She was converted and joined the Prairie Hill Methodist Church at the age of 16 years. Mrs. Kenmore married John R. Kenmore at Duke, Oklahoma, February 24, 1906. To this union was born four children. The family moved to Roger Mills county in 1928 and have made their home in Cheyenne for the past 21 years. Mrs. Kenmore was preceded in death by her husband in 1954 and one son Ferron of Dimmit, Texas, in 1940. In 1912 they returned to their old home place which was the Strong City community where she lived until she went to make her home with her youngest daughter and son-in-law in Kingfisher. She and her husband helped to organize the Custer Bend Baptist Church, one of the first churches organized in Oklahoma Territory, which later became the Strong City Baptist Church. She was the only surviving Charter member. She was always faithful in the Lord's work and willing and ready to help anyone in need. She was currently a member of the First Baptist Church at Kingfisher. She was preceded in death by her husband, a son John Floyd Kendall and a daughter, Lillie West. She is survived by one son Ray Kendall of Oklahoma City, 5 daughters, Mrs. Jessie K. Cross, Houston, Texas; Mrs. Mammie K. After the death of her father, the family left Kansas by train and settled on a farm east of Cheyenne in 1901. She gave her heart to the Lord at the age of 15 and joined a Baptist Church and has been a devoted Christian since. Through her witnessing, many lives have been influenced for the Lord. In 1904, she met and married R. Bruce Jones, who preceded her in death in 1956. She was the mother of 12 children. Two of them have preceded her in death, a daughter, Kate Ella Hensley, and a son, Clifford Maltby. Left to mourn her passing are five daughters: Madge Allen, Sweetwater, Okla.; Pearl Giddens, Spearman, Texas; Hazel Reedser, Amarillo, Texas; Lorraine Mills, Aumsville, Oregon; Vesta Lee Lewis, Oklahoma City, Okla.; and five sons: R. Bruce, Hyattstown, Maryland; Homer, Inglewood, California; Sam (USN0, San Diego, California; H. Harold, Redding, California; and Bill, Dumas, Texas, Three brothers: Charlie Maltby, Desdemona, Texas; Grover Maltby, Arkansas City, Kansas; Ike Maltby, Elk City, Oklahoma; and one sister, Lelia Haggerty, New York State; forty grandchildren and nine great grandchildren; a host of neices, nephews and friends. Funeral services were held at the Reydon community builgind Friday, 2:30 p.m. September 14, 1962, with Rev. Lynn Heard of Sayre, her former pastor, officiating and Rev. C.R. Shaw assisting. Mr. Jones had been seriously ill for the past month and had just recently undergone the second major operation during that time. Jack "Pinkey" Jones served as high school athlete coach in the Cheyenne school for 12 years. He resigned last summer to accept a similar position in Roswell, New Mexico. He was an outstanding coach who produced many teams that won district and regional honors, as well as many individual players who went on to play college basketball. That he had made a place in the hearts of the people of this community was attested by the large number of persons who passed by his casket Tuesday to pay final respect to one who had mingled with them. Numerous persons who had played basketball under his instruction come from great distances to be present for the funeral. Jack Wesley Jones was born September 18, 1927 at Clinton, Oklahoma and passed away in Roswell, New Mexico on November 30, 1963. On August 17, 1953 he was married to Miss Jan Vincent of Cheyenne. To this union three children were born who with the wife survive. Other survovors include four brothers Paul of Bakersfield, California, Loren and Richard of San Lendro, California, and Jay of Butler, Oklahoma and one sister, Jessie Clark of Taloga. He was a member of the Baptist church. During World War II he attained the rank of sergeant in the army. Funeral services were conducted in the Baptist church of Cheyenne Tuesday afternoon, December 3, 1963. Rev. Laddie Adams of Enid, a former pastor officiated with the assistance of Rev. Services were held in Strong City Monday at 2;00 p.m. with Rev. Lee Vaughn, Strong City, and Rev. Raymond Allen, Sayre, officiating. Born September 2, 1867 at Terry county, Indiana, Mr. Hendershot was married to Alvaa Lenora West in Collins county, Texas. He was preceded in death by his wife and five sons. Survivors are one daughter, Mrs. Grace Zuber, Melrose, New Mexico; two sons, Titon of Canadian, Texas and Herbert of Duncan, 19 grandchildren; 51 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; two sisters, Mrs. Artillia Hasler and Mrs. Alice Wilgus. Pall bearers were Jim Hendershot, Jack Hendershot, Johnny Hendershot, Jimmy Lee Hendershot, Jerry Bertram and Joe Bradley.
