In 1896 they moved to Custer county and in 1912 to Roger Mills County. She was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian church. She was preceded in death by her husband. Survivors are one son, Jack R. Rose, Strong City; three daughters, Elizabeth Roberts, Pueblo, Colorado; Mary Alic e Thomas, Strong City; Katherine Switzer, Leedey, Oklahoma. Pall bearers were Roy Hay, Fray Young, John Switzer, Delbert Myers, Haskell Webb, Jim Hendershot. The family moved to Cordell, Oklahoma in 1909. On December 25, 1915 he was united in marriage to Rachel Delter, in Bessie, Oklahoma. To this union were born two sons and three daughters. In 1922 he moved to Cheyenne and called it his home until his death. He farmed west of this city for many years. In 1946 he went to Oregon and worked in the lumber industry. He returned to Cheyenne in 1953 following a heart attack and had resided here since that time. He was preceded in death by one infant son and one infant daughter, three sisters and six brothers. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Rahcel, one son Lee Roark and two daughters, Maydell Purvis of Tucson, Arizona and Polly of Tampa, Florida, one niece Helen Lackey of Strong City, and one nephew, Claude Roark of Fort Worth, Texas whom he raised; three brothers; eight grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held in the Baptist Church of Cheyenne with Rev. Lloyd Martin and Rev. Earl Bengs officiating. Born February 18, 1888, in DeCatur, Texas, Mr. Potts died in an Elk City hospital, October 14, 1962. He was 74. Mr. Potts came to Oklahoma territory in 1901 to the Roger Mills area and lived there until he moved to Elk City five years ago. Prior to moving here he lived in Cheyenne 14 years. He retired nine years ago. Mr. Potts was married October 1, 1911, west of Hammon to the former R.L. Stanford. He is survived by his wife of the home, 115 East First St., Elk City, two daughters, Mrs. Lenora Shelton, Elk City; and Mrs. Lorena Brandon, Miami, Fla.; and one son, Stanley, of Emmitt, Idaho. Three other children preceded him in death. He is also survived by one brother, Tom of Cheyenne; two half-sisters, one half-brother, 13 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. John H. Petersen, born Hans Johannas Petersen, in Huson Schlieswig- Holstein Province, Germany, on September 2, 1882, son of Claus H. and Marie Petersen. The family came to America in 1888 and settled briefly on a farm in Nebraska, moving to Oklahoma City in 1892. He came to Roger Mills County on July 4, 1906, and settled in the Rankin community. On December 22, 1915, he was united in marriage to Arla R. Reynolds at Dempsey, Oklahoma. They moved to their present homesite where they have resided ever since. He was a member of the Uniterian Church and belonged to the IOOF and Rebekah Lodge of Reydon. He departed this life on August 2, 1961 in the Community Hospital of Elk City, at the age of 78 years and 11 months, after a short illness. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Mrs. Arla R. Petersen of the home address. One daughter, Mrs. G.L. Newsom of Kansas City, Kansas; two sons, John R. Petersen of Reydon and Glen G. of the U.S. Air Force stationed in Germany; eight grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Anna Hutchens of Pampa, Texas; Mrs. Maggie Vincent of Greensburg, Kansas and Mrs. Augusta Weller of Silversprings, Maryland. hree brogthers, Henry of Oklahoma City; Bill of Riverside, California, and Tom of Wichita, Kansas.
