She was one of 11 children born to Jonaathan M. and Henryetta Bowman. She was united in marriage to Dick Cobb on November 17, 1917 at Mayfield, Oklahoma. To this union were born a son, Fred, of Strong City; a daughter, Francis Foster of Charleston, arkansas, and Frank, a son who passed on in infancy. She had been a member of the Church of Christ for the past 51 years. Mrs. Cobb had been a resident of the Roll community for the past 40 years, among her many friends and neighbors. After a shor illness, she departed this life on August 27, 1969, at the age of 66 years, 11 months, and 27 days leaaving much sadness in the hearts of her loved ones. Besides her husband and two children, she is survived by a daughter-in-law and a son-in-law, 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Hattie Anderson of Longview, Texas, and a number of nieces and nephews. Eddie Ditterline, of El Paso, Texas, Rev. Roy Weaver, Cheyenne, officiating. Born November 9, 1893 at Alvin, Texas, Mr. Chalfnat came to Cheyenne in 1916 from Clinton. He was married aApril 9, 1917, to Laura Warren in Cheyenne. He was engaged in the grain and elevator business for over 30 years. In earlier days he was promoter of good roads and president of the First Good Roads Association of Roger Mills County; promotor of telephone service and instrumental in obtaining phone service to rural Roger Mills County. As a member of the Methodist church he served on the building boaard for the construction of the church and parsonage. At the time of his death he was city council treasurer, Cheyenne Utility Trust Secretary-treasurer, Minnie R. Slief Library board presidnet, the Western Plains Library Systems board member, charter member and first president of the Cheyenne Kiwanis club and Old Timmers Association of the Cheyenne and Arapho county president. He was 32nd degree member of the Masonic lodge. Survivors are his wife of the home; three sons, J. Warren and Billy, Cheyenne, and Wesley of Midland, Texas; and one daughter, Mrs. James (Jean) Jack, Sulphur; ten grandchildren; four great grandchildren. He passed away March 4, 1969 at Cheyenne, Oklahoma. Funeral services for Mr. Burns were conducted Thursday, 2:00 p.m. March 6, 1969 at the Methodist church in Cheyenne with Rev. William Chace, pastor of Methodist church, and George D. Frank, Minister of Church of Christ, officiating. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles H. Burns and his mother Minnie P. Burns. Two brothers John W. Burns and an infant brother Earl Burns, one sister, Callie Douglas Burns. Beeler Charles Burns grew to manhod near Marlow, Oklahoma and was married to Oma Singleton Burns on January 14, 1916. To this union was born seven children, four of which preceded him in death. The family lived in the Marlow and Oklahoma City area until 1941 when they moved to ElCentro, California, where the mother, Oma Burns departed this life, September 23, 1946. Surviving children are tow daughters, Mrs. Jessie Mae Lawless, ElCentro, Calif, Mrs. Leora Helen Jones, ElCentro, California, one son, Harold L. Burns, Bakersfield, California; six grandchildren and one great grand child. Beeler Charles Burns was married to Nellie Dickey Burns, on September 20, 1948 at Wheeler, Texas. After living one year in ElCentro, California, Mr. Burns and his wife Nellie established a home in Cheyenne, Oklahoma August 1949. Mr. Burns, a 32nd degree Mson, was a retired Carpenter and businessman. He is survived by his wife Nellie Burns, Cheyenne, Oklahoma. Other survivors include: th! ree brothers, Samuel L. Burns, Dinuba, California, Leonard W. Burns, Reydon, Oklahoma; Clifford L. Burns, Cheyenne, Oklahoma and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Julian, Sterling, Oklahoma; Mrs. Mabel Hammon, Reydon, Oklahoma and a host of nieces and nephews. Earl was born May 23, 1888 in Scotland County, Missouri, to Thomas H. and Betty Road Briggs. As a young man, his parents moved to Roger Mills County where they purchased a farm. Here he met and married Eva Sadler in Durham, on July 8, 1909. On July 8 they would have been married 60 years. At the time of their marriage, Mr. Briggs was foreman of the Todd Ranch near Canadian, Texas. Later he became a farmer and then a contractor. He retired in this capacity at the approximate age of 75. Earl was a faithful member of the Church of Christ in Shattuck. Surving Mr. Briggs, are his wife, Eva Briggs; six sons, Darius of McLoud, Okla.; Cyril of Merced, California, Robert of Cheyenne; Loel of Alva, Oklahoma; Thomas of League City, Texas; and Sherman of Las Cruces, New Mexico; five daughters, Mrs. Zenobia Riley of Dumas, Texas; Mrs. Juanita Walker of Corpus Christi, Texas; Mrs. Wenona Moore of Sayre, Okla.; Mrs. Nadine Davis of Amarillo, Texas and Mrs. Joan Decker of Broderick, California. He was preceded in death by a son, Noel, in 1952. He is also survived by 44 grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren. He was the last surviving member of the Thomas h. and Betty Road Briggs family. She was a member of Seth Ward Baptist Church at Plainview. Services were held 2:00 p.m. Saturday March 8, 1969, in the Reydon Community Building with Rev. W.F. Brian of Plainview and Rev. Mr. Alubert married Mollie Willow Gamble in Louisville, Texas, on November 16, 1898. They came to the Sayre community in 1901 from Denton county, Texas. He was a retired farmer. Survivors are his wife, Mollie, of the Cheyenne Convalescent hospital; one daughter, Leahrene Burckhalter, Sweetwater; two sons, W.L. of Vinita and C.H. of Reno, Nevada; five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Pall bearers were: Harvey Bartz, Cecil Flemmings, Pud Brown, Earl Tucker, Dave Cooprider, Babe Frankford. Interment was in the Dempsey cemetery, Dempsey, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of Scroggins and Son Funeral Home of Cheyenne. Cheyenne Star, Cheyenne, OK

Willie Hobart York was born September 22, 1896 in Hillsboro, Texas and Jessie Elmira York was born May 2, 1899 in Dodge Center, Minnesota. They came to the Crawford community from Elk City in 1930. In the fall of 1939 they moved to the Durham community. They were married April 15, 1916 at Sayre and were member of the Durham Baptist church. They were survived by four daughters, Mrs. Mildred Shipp, Saudia Arabla; Mrs. Enda Hicks, Hayward, California; Mrs. Othella Selby, Nevada, Missouri; and Mrs. Doris Hatley, Miami; also five sons, Wesley of Pampa, Texas; Oran of Muskogee; Carol of Union City, California; Donnie and Phil of Durham. Mr. York has two sisters, Mrs. Blanche Harlson, Sayre andc Mrs. M.E. Foster, Dalhart, Texas; two brothers Ernest of California and Claude of Levelland, Texas. Mrs. York had a twin sister, Mrs. Ray Harkins of Sayre; three brothers, Ben Moulton of Battle Creek, Michigan, Shirley Moulton of Grimes and Arch Moulton of New York State. Burial was at the Fairview cemetery, Durham, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma under the direction of Scroggins and Son Funeral home, Cheyenne. Cheyenne Star, Cheyenne, OK

Mr. Wells passed away suddenly early Tuesday morning May 23, 1961 from a heart attack, after having suffered from a heart ailment for several years. He was born January 24, 1904. Immediate survivors are his wife, Hortense, of the home a daughter and grandson, Billye Lee Evans and Loyd Lee, Amarillo, his mother, Mrs. Victoria Wells, Clinton, a sister, Mrs. H.V. Brooks, also of Clinton another sister, Mrs. Olan Bowman of Butler. Lee Wells, one of the most highly respected business men of this city came here from Strong City and has been manager of the A.L.
