Surviving him are a son, Sam of Dumas; three daughters, Mrs. Ruth Williams of Amarillo, Mrs. Modell Andrews of Canadian and Mrs. Jospehine Vaughan of Denver City; a sister, Mrs. Cecil Miller of Hastland; nien grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Born November 12, 1876, Hillsborough, Texas, Mrs. Thomas married J.W. Thomas September 20, 1905, in Day County. She had come to Durham from Bowie, Texas in 1898. She was a member of the First Christian church since 1916. She has been living with her daughter, Mrs. Fred Cordell, in Cheyenne. She was preceded in death by her husbqand, one son, J.W. Thomas, Jr.; three sisters and five brothers. Survivors are three daughters, Mrs. Irene Taylor, Belleplaine, Kansas, Mrs. Pauline Cordell, Cheyenne, and Mrs. Katura Powers, Midwest City; three sons, Bufford and Bruce both of Durham, Vint of Hardesty; two brothers, Hammit Dunn of Midland, Texas and clay Dunn, Pilot Point, Texas; twenty grand children and 26 great grandchildren. Pall bearers were her grandsons, James Thomas, Billy Taylor, Dempsey Powers, Gordon Thomas, and Gene Johnson. He moved with his parents and sisters to the Square Top Community in 1902, where he farmed until his retirement in 1960. He waas united in marriage to Octavia Murriel Calvert in 1916. To this union were born four sons and two daughters, Betty Joe, preceded him in death in 1934. He leaves to mourn his passing; Mrs. Sprowls, of the home address; sons Fremont of Portland, Oregon; Memory of Oklahoma City; Charles of Phillips, Texas; Louis, of Cheyenne; a daughter, Honwea Rhoten of Phillips, Texas; and a sister, Edyth Hyer of Phoenix, Arizona. He leaves also thirteen grandchildren; three great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Mr. Sprowls helped to make the history of Roger Mills County and was vitally interested in recalling and retelling early historic events. They made their home in the Strong City Community where they farmed and ranched before moving to Cheyenne in 1972. Lucille was named "Moter of the Year" by the Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce in 1995. She was a member of Strong City Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one grandchild, Steven Elliott Little, two sisters and one brother. Services were held Friday, May 24, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. at Cheyenne First Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Fred King and Rev. Don Harrold. Burial was held at the Cheyenne Cemetery, Cheyenne, Roger Mills county, Oklahoma under the direction of Rose chapel funeral services. Burial services were conducted at the Pentacostal church at Hammon at two p.m. Sunday October 20, 1968 Rev. Avery, Hammon officiated the funeral sermon. Mrs. Irene Clark gave the tribute. Rev. Lee Vaughn of Strong City, read the obituary and prayer. Mr. Pitcock was laid to rest in the Red Hill cemetery, Hammon, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma. The casket bearers were Buster Miller, Clyde Stewart, Tom Pinkston, Clye Stamper, Harold Mooney, and Bob Burrows. Mr. Pitcock departed from this life October 18, 1968 at the age of 86 years 1 month, and 27 days. Left to mourn his passing is his wife, Ella; 4 daughters, 4 sons; 23 grandchildren; 45 great grandchildren; 4 great-greaat- grandchildren; one brother, Eldredge of Duncan; four sisters; Lea Wallace, Duncan; Elizabeth Pitcox, of Corpus Christi; Trudy Hedley, Saint Joseph, Texas; Mildred Compton, Gillham, Arkansas; and a host of other relatives and friends. Massey at Tucumcari, New Mexico and they made their home in Hobart until 1955 when they moved to Coloraado. In 1960 they moved to Fort Supply where they have made their home since that time. She was a member of the Hillcreast Church of Christ. She died Monday, November 17, 1969 at noon in St. Anthony's Hospital, Oklahoma City, following a two-month illness. Survivors are her husband, King W. Services were held aat the Cheyenne Church of Christ at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. George Frank officiating and was assisted by Leland Burch. Mr. Leitner was born February 6, 1880 in Crawford county, Iowa. He moved to Custer county, Oklahoma with his parents at an early age. He filed on land in Roger Mills county in the eaarly 1900's. Mr. Leitner was married to Flora M. Hundley January 25, 1914, who preceded him in death April 12, 1955. To this union were born four girls and one boy. One daughter, Linnie Jane, died in infancy. He leaves to mourn: Mr. John W. Leitner, Burkburnet, Texas, Mrs. Viola White, Crawford, Oklahoma, Blanch Darrah, Cheyenne, Oklahoma, Mrs. Arlena Strickland of Amarillo, Texas; eleven grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren, two sisters and two brothers. Millie Weed ,Appleton, Wisc, Gladys Robertson, Rosic, Idaho, Paul Leitner, Bonora, California, Bob Leitner, Amarillo, Texas. Pallbearers were: grandsons, Virgle, Curtis and Eugene White, Bert Newman, Thomas Raff and Gayle Strickland. He was a member of the Church of Christ since young manhood. He retired in 1959 from the Family home in the Crawford community and made his home in Cheyenne. Commital was in the Fairview Cemetery, Durham, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma with Scroggins and Son in charge of arrangements. Cheyenne Star, Cheyenne, OK
