He was married to Cheryl Lowrey at Sayre, Oklahoma on September 30, 1994 and they made their home in Elk City. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and checking his cows. He was preceded in death by his father. Services will be held Thursday May 2, 2002 at 2:03 p.m. at Whinery-Savage Chapel, officiated by Roger Woodson. Pennington was born January 24, 1913 at Reydon, Oklahoma to Mr. and Mrs. C.C. Pennington and died suddenly September 14, 1967, at Lancaster, California at the age of 54 years, 7 months and 21 days. He was married to Sula K. King on December 24, 1934 at Grimes, Oklahoma. To this union two sons and one daughter were born. They are Loren and Wendell Pennington and Mrs. Deanna Holman, all of Lancaster. Earl had lived near Reydon most of his life until eleven years ago when they moved to Lancaster and later to the 509 E. K-12 home where they resided at the time of his death. He had felt as well as usual, but was stricken about one hour afer reaching work and was dead on arrival after being rushed by ambulance, to Memorial Hospital. His mother, Mrs. Zora Pennington, of Carnegie, Oklahoma, two sisters, Miss Auba Pennington, also of Carnegie, and Mrs. Evelyn Baker and husband of Fay, five brothers, Cliff of Weatherford, Dee of Chandler, Percy of Reydon, Pascal of Phillips, Texas, and their wives made the trip by plane to attend the funeral of their loved one. One brother, Parker, of Seattle, Washington, was unable to attend. Besides the above mentioned family, he leaves three grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Services were held in Mumaw Funeral Home at 1 p.m. on September 16, 1967 with Rev. O.F. Dearing, Primitive Baptist Church of near by Qwartz Hill, officiating. Lena Grace Campbell was born September 28, 1894 aat Ozawkie, Kansas, the youngest child of Alexander and Matilda Campbell and departed this life October 2, 1964. She was united in marriage to Elvert Ray Hills August 19, 1914 at Ozawkie. Following their marriage they established their first home in the Oklahoma Panhandle, coming to Cheyenne in 1922 where she has since resided. To this union four children were born. Her husband and one son Marshall, preceded her in death. Grace Hills was a member of the First Methodist Church of Cheyenne and the Order of the Eastern Star. She is survived by one son W.E. Hills, Cheyenne; two daughters, Mrs. Ed O;Neill, Cheyenne and Mrs. Bobby Joe Burns of Shreveport, Louisiana; a sister, Mrs. Mae Allen, Kansas City, Missouri; seven grandchildren, one great grandcuhyild, other relatives and friends. Dick Harris, died in surgery in Idaho Falls hospital about 2 p.m. He had been taken to the hospital after the blast at 10:30 a.m. Harris was one of two persons near the blast. The other man waas Gary Richardson 28 who did not see the accident but found Harris unconscious immediately after the blast. According to hospital attendants, Harris did not regain consciousness. George Hartwell, a contractor who employed Harris, suggested the accidnet occured because of a premature explosion. Richardson told Idaho Falls police investigating the accident thaat the charge was the same size as the pair had been using in earlier blasts. Harris was struck on the right sidce of his head. Dick Harris was born June 24, 1922, at Durham, Oklahoma son of Walter E. and Eula Sloan Harris. He resided in Oklahoma until 1963 when he moved to Kansas. He was married to Montez Walker on May 1, 1955. They came to Idaho Falls in 1960. Besides his wife he is survived by his son, Richard Lyn Harris seven weeks old, a son by a previous marriage, Hugh Wesley Harris, and a daughter by a previous marriage, Mrs. Frances Ann Nichols, both of Cheyenne, Oklahoma. He was one of four c hildren born to Elk River and Happy Woman. A brother, Lone Elk, and a sister, Mrs. Bertha Bear Track, precdeceased him. He did not have the privilege of formal education, but he was always much concerned and sought to help his grandchildren in obtaining their education. Most of his life was spent in the Hammon community. Following the death of Henry;s first wife he was married to Lilly Black Hill. To this union were born two daughters, Inez, Mrs. Arthur Kauley, and Mary, Mrs. Edward Whiteskunk, both of Hammon. Since the death of his second wife, 1961, he has made his home with his daughter Inez. Chief Elk River served his people in many ways, not the leasxt of which waas a period of time on the tribal council. He was one of the first councilmen to go to Washington on behalf of tribal business. After being a headsman for a number of years, he was elected as a chief in 1957. During middle age Henry became a Christian and was baptized by the Bethel Memmonite church. Later he joined the Baptist Indian Mission. The past number of weeks Crooked Nose had been going through a period of failing health. Suddenly, his condition worsened and he departed this life October 17, 1967, having reached the age of 81 years. He leaves to mourn two daughters, Inez and Mary, two sisters Mrs. Lilly Hayes and Mrs. Maggie Hansel of Hammon, 21 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and many friends and relatives. Services were conduted by the pastor, Rev. Herman Ledford, assisted by Rev. J.L. Wilkerson of Erick, formerly of Cheyenne. Judson Cunningham passed away Thursday February 11, 1965 after an illness of one day. He was born March 20, 1889. He moved to Cheyenne in 1894 and has resided here since. In 1919 he was married to Sylvia Bice, who survives him. Other immediate survivors are his two stepchildren, Gladys Pear (Mrs. Jimmie) Edwards of Borger, Texas and Allen Bice of California both of whom were present for the funeral services. Other survivors are nephews and nieces. Judson Cunningham was truly a pioneer. He had been a member of the Baptist church for more than fifty years. He had also been a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge for more than half a century. Judson Cunningham had served Roger Mills County as a public official for forty years which is a sullogy to his efficiency and the respect people had for him. He was laid to rest in the Cheyenne cemetery, Cheyennr, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma after final services by the Odd Fellows, Funeral arrangements were by Scroggins and Son. He moved to Canaidan, Texas as a young man and spent the remainder of his life there. Frank was united in marriage to Virginia Garrett in 1920. He was a veteran of World War I and served as County Commissioner of Hemphill County Precinct for a number of years. He reitred in 1959 after serving 39 yeaars with the Texas County.. He was a member of The First Christin Church and a member of the Masonic Lodge. Survivors include his wife, Virgie, a brother, Ray, of Cheyenne, Four sisters, Winnie Cooper, Sapulpa, Oklahoma, Georgia Ivy, Cheyenne, Oklahoma, Dorothy Thomas, Durham, and Hazel Petersen, Cleveland, Oklahoma, also many other relatives and friends.
