She was a member of the D.U.B. church, D.U.V. and American Legion Auxiliary. She was married in 1908 to Arnet Purdy who died in 1942. She died in 1934 and in 1957 he was married to Thelma Morrow, who survives. His church preference was Baptist. Survivors include his wife, Thelma, of the home; four children, Mrs. C.C. Mrs. R.V. Converse, were held at the First Christin Church in Spearman at 2:30 p.m, Monday, August 12, 1962. Rev. John Waddell, pastor of the church, gave the opening, and closing prayer and brought the message of praise and comfort to the friends and relatives. Rev. Waddell painted the life of this wonderful character as patient, pelasant, sacrificial, and Christian. Myrtle Pelter, born in Waynesboro, Va., December 1, 1881, moved with her parents, George and Estaline Pelter to Great Bend, Kansas, in the early 80's; where she attended school. Miss Pelter received her teachers certificate in 1896, and moved into Oklahoma Territory in Waynoka, Ingersoll, Cheyenne and Watonga schools. In 1903 she met and married R.V. Converse, June 30, 1903, after spending many years in Oklahoma, they moved to Spearman in 1926 where they made their home. One son, Ray Vallette, Jr., was born to this union. In about 1912 he became engaged in the mercantile busines in Cheyenne in which he continued for 25 years. He then entered the business of Funeral Undertaking which business he continued until he moved to Odessa, Texas. While residing in Cheyenne Joe Tunnard was an active member of the Methodist church. He moved to California in 1935 and had made his home there since. He was retired from McClellan Air Force Base. Arthur is survived by two sisters Florence Rhoades of Sacramento, and Sallie Steere of Sayre; and one brother, R.L. of Cheyenne; sixteen nieces and nephews.
