Moving with her family to the Ghost mound area where she attended school at Eakly. Alma was a wonderful homemaker, mother and grandmother. She dearly loved her grandchildren. She is survived by one son, C.J. Pulis and wife Doris of Florence, MT; one daughter, Patsy Huffhines and husband Gene of Yukon, OK; one sister, Ila Dilalo of Illinois; five grandchildren: Julie, Chris, Darren, Anne and Steven; six great grandchildren: Misty, Shonna, Ricky, Casteil, Mira and Lyric; two great grandchildren: Donovan and Hadyn and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, the father of her children, Guy W. Pulis, four brothers: Bill, Calvin, Claude and John, infant twins and three sisters: Irene, Iva and Eva. Alma was a member of Church Covenant Fellowship. Services were held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday October 6, 2001, at the Yanda and Son Chapel, Yukon, Oklahoma with graveside services at 3:30 p.m., at High Point Cemetery, five miles north of Colony, Oklahomaq. Mrs. Nelson was a cosmetologist and a housewife. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, gardening and cooking. Mrs. Nelson was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Nell Paramore; and a brother, Jimmy Steward. Survivors include: husband, George E. Nelson, Jr., of the home; four daughters and sons-in-law: Pam and Kenneth Stinson of Marietta, Oklahoma, Marcia and Darren Robertson of Fort Worth, Texas, Pattie and Ardith Daniels of Cheyenne, Oklahoma, Karen and Ray Don Lucas of Marietta, Oklahoma; one brother, G.C. Steward of Boyd, Texas; 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Services were held at the Eastside Baptist Church at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday October 30, 2001 in Marietta, Oklahoma. Officiating was held by Rev. Ronnie Harris and the interment was in the McAlister Cemetery, Overbrook, Oklahoma. Pallbearers were Curtis Bowers, Rick Steward, Darren Robertson, Jr., Paul Stanford, Aaron Robertson and Wayne Bond. Services were directed by Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home in Marrietta, Oklahoma. William I. (Bill) Logan was born March 6, 1901 in Kansas and moved to the Roll area in Roger Mills County in 1912. As a young man he worked for the Sides family of Durham. He married Marie Lindstrom in December of 1932. Later he farmed in the Durham community and was involved in drilling oil wells in Texas. At one time he owned and operated a hardware store in Cheyenne. He and his wife Marie moved to Portland, Oregon to work for the Caterpillar Company as a mechanic the latter part of the thirties. He celebrated his 100th Birthday on March 6, 2001. He is survived by his wife Marie of the home in Galdstone, Oregon, one brother Tom Logan of California, and many nieces and nephews. He grew up on the Lacey homestead in the Kiowa community and attended Hammon schools. While visiting other members of this family in Porter, Oklahoma he met and married Gracia "Lawanda" Denson. To this union were born five children: Ronnie, Bruce, Frank, James, and Dawanna. After the birth of his first child, the family moved to California where LeRoy worked as a machinst. They moved to Kansas in 1967. Lawanda died October 3, 1970 in an automobile accident. For the past several years, LeRoy suffered from emphysema. His children stood by helping him to cope. "God saw he was getting tired and a cure was not to be. So he put his arms around him and whispered "come with me." With tearful eyes we watched him suffer and saw him fade away. Although we couldn't bear to lose him, we could not bid him stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands laid to rest, God broke our hearts to prove to us, he only takes the best." LeRoy was preceded in death by his wife, Lawanda and his parents, Fred and Etta Lacey; brothers, R.J. and Ray and sister, Fay. He is survived by his children: Ronnie of Casady, Kansas; Bruce of Potwin, Kansas, Frank of Leon, Kansas and James of Casady and daughter Dawanna Mauldin of El Doraado, Kansas and a sister Mary Etta "Billie" Cash, Muskogee, Oklahoma; grandchildren: Bruce Lacey, Jr., Ashley Hobbs, James Mauldin, and Dylan Mauldin; great grandchildren: Taylor Lacey and Paige Lacey. Clyde Calvin Jacks was born October 27, 2001 in Grand (Indian Territory) Oklahoma, to James and Glayds Wells Jacks. He grew up on the family farm south of Arnett, and atteded Arnett High School. Following his graduation in 1927, he attended Oklahoma A&M College in Stillwater, where he majored in engineering. On January 10, 1931, he married Pauline Sarah Martin, on the Jack's family homestead south of Arnett. They made their home in Amarillo, until returning to Arnett in 1939, to take over the family farm, following the death of his father. In 1955 he went to work at the Pantex Plant in Amarillo, while maintaining his farming operation. He retired from Pantex in 1972, and continued his farming and ranching operation until 1993. He was an active member of the First Christian Church. He loved to play the harmonica for his family. Clyde also enjoyed hunting, and being in the great outdoors. His greatest loves were his family, farming and ranching. Mt. Jacks died October 23, 2001 at Newman Memorial Hospital in Shattuck, at the age of 93 years, 11 months, and 26 days. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister. Clyde is survived by his wife, Pauline; a daughter and her husband, Shirley and W.J. Armour of Ft. Worth, Texas; five sons and their wives, Jimmie and Jackie Jacks of Wichita, Kansas, Donald and Bonnie Jacks of Grove, Oklahoma, Larry and Lyndia Jacks of Littleton, Colorado, Harvey and Denise Anding-Jacks of Spicewood, Texas, and Steve and Marsha Jacks of Moore, Oklahoma; a sister and her husband, Lucille and W.J. Fellers of Amarillo, Texas; 19 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren, and other relatives and friends. Jack served his country in the United States Navy and the family moved with him all over the world. They moved to Elk City in 1964 where her husband was the Naval Recruiter. In 1968 the family moved to Cheyenne to make their home. She lived with her daughter, Mary Kay in Weatherford from 1992 until 1997 when they moved back to Elk City. She moved into Jayce Village in 1999. She was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church. Maria was involved in many note worth activities. She was the Educational Director at Clinton Sherman Air Force Base. As a mother to four sons, Maria was active in helping the Boy Scouts of American. She was a member of the Catholic Womens Gild, Stephen Minister, Lector, for St. Matthews Catholic Church. She served as a member of Epsilon Sigma Alpa and received the FVirst Pearl award. She was elected as officer of the chapter. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two daughters, Baby Butcher and Maria Theresa Courtney; three brothers; and one sister. Survivors include six children and spouses, John and Gloria Butcher of St. Louis, Missouri, George and Edith Butcher of Anaheim, California, James and Robin Butcher of Elk City, Victor Butcher of Longbeach, California, Jacqaueline and Carey Bradley of Brandon, Florida, Mary Kay and Ron Babcock of Hillsboro, Oregon; one brother, Henry Cole of Seattle, Washington; eight grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. He played baseball for Yale University, where he graduated in 1969. He worked as a sports writher for The Norman Transcript while attending law school at the University of Oklahoma. Upon receiving his degree, he began practicing law in Cheyenne, Oklahoma. He opened his Clinton practice in 1976. He continued going to his Cheyenne office two days a week for his entire career. He was an active member of the Custer County Bar Association and of state and national legal organizations. He was a past chariman of the Oklahoma Judicial Nominating Committee. He was on the board of directors of the Farmers Union Cooperative Roylaty Company. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves. He was a member of the First Methodist! Church in Clinton, where he served a a lay leader, choir member and past president of the Board of Trustees. Jim Bob played football, basketball, and baseball for the Clinton Red Tornadoes. He played American Legion baseball. Attending high school sprots events in Clinton was a special passion. He enjoyed coaching Little League baseball teams and attending sprots events at OU and OSU. His great pleasure in lie was getting out in the country to enjoy nature. He lovedc to fly fish for trout in northern New Mexico and to hunt bobwhite quail in western Oklahoma. Jim Bob died on Sunday, January 20, 2002, while quial hunting with friends near Cheyenne. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his mother-in-law, Mary Ford. He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Ford Wright, and two daughters, Lauren and Rachel, of Clinton. Memorial services for James R. Wright, Jr., was held Wednesday, January 23, 2002 at 3:30 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church. Rev. Larry King officiated. She passed away March 10, 2002 in Stillwater, Oklahoma at the age of 71. Christene grew up in Mayfield, Oklahoma and grauduated from Sweetwater High School in 1948. She married Billy B. Tucker at Sayre on February 12, 1949. She followed her husband to OSU until 1952. She and Billy then resided in Champaign, Illinois, moving to Stillwater in 1956, where she lived until her death. She enjoyed ceramics, sewing, crafts, painting and OSU athletic events, but her favorite hobby was her home. C hris was involvedc as a church volunteer and was alway a benevolent worker and caregiver. She was a Sunday School teacher, nursey worker, Girl Scout Leader, home room mothyer, food bank volunteer and a mother to university students away from home. Chris played a vital part in the care of her mother, who is 100 years old. She had a love for people and gave her time and resourses generously. She loved her husband's gardening and flowers. Chris was a member of the Church of Christ. She was also a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her father, Elber McGuire. Survivors include: her mother, Bonnie McGuire of Sayre, Oklahoma; her husband, Billy B. Mr. Swope was born in Astoria, Illinois August 15, 1865. In early childhood he moved with his parents to Nebraska. In 1889 he came to Oklahoma and settled near Edmond where he was united in marriage to Miss Celia Julia Burke in 1892. To this union eight children were born. In 1903 they came to Roger Mills County where they made their home until moving to Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1944. He is survived by two sons, Edward of California and Leo of Reydon, Oklahoma; four daughters, Mrs. Mary Trammel and Mrs. Vivienne Stickley of Reydcon, Oklahoma; Mrs. Irene Barbee and Mrs. Cecilia O'Hearn of Albuquerque, New Mexico; one sister, Mrs. Ina mason of Oregon, eighteen grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren. Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 24, 2002 at the Methodist church of Reydon, Oklahoma with Pastors, Andy Taylor and Daryle Perry with Trinity Fellowship Church in Sayre, Oklahoma officiating. Graveside services were held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday Janury 24, 2002 in Edith Ford Memorial Cemetery, Canadian, Hemphill County, Texas by Stickley-Hill Funeral Directors. Mrs. Stickley was born November 25, 1910 NW of Rankin, Oklahoma to William Chauncey and Ceclia Julia Burke Swope. She was one of eight children. She attended school in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Mrs. Sticley attended Loretta Heights in Denver, Colorado and the college in Weatherford, Oklahoma. She returned to Midway and taught three graades for a few years. Mrs. Stickley married David Huston "Hoot" Stickley on September 7, 1932 in Sayre, Oklahoma. He died on November 25, 1981. She was a member of the Roman Catholic Church, American Legion Auxiliary, and the Reydon Garden Club. "Hoot aand Viv" loved to play pitch with family, friends and neightbors for many years. She had a variety of interest one of which was basketball. Unknown to most, she played basketball at the school she attended in New Mexico, traveling to Colorado and the surrounding area. Women's basketball courtsd at that time were divided into three sections, with two palyers in each section, she played th! e center section. Mrs. Stickley had a green thumb and loved to plant flowers. Her flower gardens were a blaze of color and she oftern brought wildflowers in from the pastures to transplant into selected area of her yard. She knew all the wild flowers and could identify most of the birds in western Oklahoma and the Texas Panhandle. "Hoot and Viv" lived on the Stickley home place in the south eaast corner of Hemphill County, near Reydon, Oklahoma. She was a true rancher's wife, taking her good home cooking out to the cowboys during round up time with her merry Irish laugh and gentle compassion. Mrs. Stickley also had a fighting Irish spirit that neither the depression nor the loss of their home to fire could dim her bright outlook on life. The Lord blessed "Hoot and Viv's" home with a daughter who was the light of their lives. They were class parents for Ellen's class and help take seventeen students to New Orleans. Her grandchildren were her pridxe and joy and as lon! g as her health permitted she took part in their activities. "Viv" was a friend and inspiration to all who knew her and will be missed by her family and friends. Survivors include: 1 daughter and son-in-law, Ellen and Ed Wesner, the Stickley Homeplade; 1 granddaughter, Sara Wesner, 1 grandson Chauncey Wesner; sister-in-law, Jessie Fry of Canadian. She was married to Robert Spurlin at Reydon, Oklahoma on October 31, 1936 and they ranched in the Reydon area. In 1947, they moved to Sayre where they owned and operated the Plaza Motel and the Dairy Maid. Later, both went to work for Dorate, Inc. She worked at Dorate as the Secretary until her retirement. Oleta was a member of the Sayre First Chirstian Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister and one brother. Services were held March 8, 2002 at 11 a.m. at Rose Chapel, officiated by Marvin Gaarrison. Burial was at the Sayre-Doxey cemetery, Sayre, Beckham County, Oklahoma under the direction of Rose chapel funeral service. Survivors include: her daughter and son-in-law, DeAnn and Dan Fairless of El Reno, Oklahoma; one grandson, Jimmy Fairless and wife, Laurie of Sayre, Oklahoma; three sisters, Ann Ellis of Sayre, Oklahoma, Virgie Wallace of Midwest City, Oklahoma, Jessie Creech of Colorado; two brothers, Jay Worley of Colorado; Lavern Worley of Choctaw, Oklahoma, a host of relatvies and friends.
