Dale Small, "Granddad", of Huntley, passsed away at his home on June 23, 2006, at the age of 81. Dale was born on September 16, 1924 to Ralph and Helen Small in Strong City, Oklahoma. He shared his birthday with his father. He grew up on the family ranch with his parents and five sisters. Dale proudly served his country as a Marine during WII in the South Pacific. After the war, he returned home to Oklahoma where he started his career. Dale also attended college at Hardin College in Wichita Falls, Texas. While at a rodeo in Vinita, Oklahoma, he met Lucille Phillips, his wife of 56 years. Dale and Lucille were married in 1950, in Bentonville, AR. They moved to Montana to work on the Padlock Ranch where Dale was ranch manger for seven years on the Northern Cheyenne Reservation. He spent many years as a cattle buyer and bought cattle for Midland Packing. Dale was a long time rodeo stock contractor in the states of Montana and Wyoming, from the 60's through the 90's. Many cowboys knew him simply as " Granddad". Later, he sold his rodeo company to Rodney Newman & Sons. He continued working by hauling cattle on long hauls throughout the southwest until he was nearly 80. Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Helen Small; and his sisters, Mary Gidley and Johnny Faye Miller. He is survived by his wife, Lucille Small; and his childdren, Sally (Jim) Dressler, Guy (Kay) Small, and Linda (Steve) Degenhart. He is also surviv ed by his sisters, Imagene Jines, Willie Sue Kissick, and Mildred Chalfant; and his grandchildren Alyson Flatness, Erin (Paul) Curmow, Keely Degenhart, Raulie Dressler, and Wendy and Wayne Small. Daled truly enjoyed spending time with his family throughout the years. He will be remembered as a loving and generous husband, father, and granddad. Dale made many people laugh and smile along the way. We will always cherish our time with him. Cremation has taken place. Memorial Services were held at 2:00 p.m., on Tuesday, June 27, 2006 at Michelotti-Sawyers Mortuary, 1001 Alderson Ave., Billings, MT. A gathering was planned at the Shrine Auditorium immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to thew Shrine Children's Hospital, c/o Al Beddoo Temple, P.O. Ed lived in Leedey and attended the Leedey grade school through the 8th grade. Ed joined the U.S. Army on January 20, 1943. While serving his country he worked as an auto mechanic and a truck driver. On April 17, 1943 Ed married Oleta Fay Buffaloe in Bastrop, Texas. Ed was still in active duty when their first child Ronnie was born. They were blessed with three more boys, Kenneth, Montie Joe and Douglas. In 1952 the family moved to Oklahoma City and established their home. Ed worked for the City of Edmond as the Street Superintendent and was involved in several major highways in Oklahoma. Ed enjoyed fishing, reading Louis Lamar western books and playing dominoes. After retirement Ed and Oleta moved to Eufaula, Oklahoma where they enoyed fishing and picnicking with the family. He is preceded in death by his wife, Oleta, his parents, Boyd and Pearl Price, by one son, Montie Joe, two sisters Alta Mae and Virgie and two brothers, Loyal Frances and Haold. He is survived by his three sons, Ronnie and wife Kathy of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Kenneth and wwife Freddie-Marie of Oklahoma City and Douglas and wife Sue of Norman, Oklahoma; one brother Smokie and wife Joan of Leedey , Oklahoma; three sisters, Nadine Kirkland of Vesalad, California, Imogene Allen of Arizona and Leota Spearsa of New Mexico; 7 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Graveside services were held Friday, July 21, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. in the New Hermon Cemetery at Leedey, Oklahoma. Arrangements were made by Shaw Funeral Home of Leedey, Oklahoma. Oklahoma held a special placed in hise heart, he thought it was God's Country. The accident occurred at 11:30 p.m. one mile west of Cheyenne on Highway 47. Ronnie was east bound and failed to negotiate a curve. The 1972 Chevrolet car over turned 1 1/2 times. Young Morris was thrown out of the car. He was pronounced dead on arrival at the Roger Mills Memorial Hospital in Cheyenne. Investigating officer was B.R. Thomas of the Elk City detachment. The family have requested that in lieu of floral offerings, donations may be made in memory of Ronnie to the Pentecostal Holiness Church Youth Fund at the Security State Bank in Cheyenne. Ronald Andrew Morris was born on November 20, 1965 in Cheyenne, Oklahoma and passed away on April 10, 1982 in Cheyenne, Oklahoma at the age of 16 years, 4 months and 20 days. Ronald was a sophmore in Cheyenne High School where he was an active memmber of the FFA. He was an Assistant Yourth Director of the Pentecostal Holiness Church of Cheyenne where he had been a member the past 7 years. He was a hard worker and started mowing lawns as a small child and was presently working at the Campbell's Food Store. He was preceded in death by his Grandmother Andrews. He is survived by his parents, Emmett and Dammie Morris of Cheyenne; 3 brothers, Lee and wife, Rita of Oklahoma City; Bob and wife, Teresa of Cheyenne; and Wade of Cheyenne; his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J.A. He was retired, a member of the First Baptist Church of Sayre and a member of the Masonic Lodge for 52 years. Those who preceded him in death in addition to his wife were his parents and one sister. Mr. Parks grew up in Sand Springs, Oklahoma and came to Cheyenne in 1944. He was married to Flora Mae Andrews on June 3, 1944 in Sayre, Oklahoma. They made their home in Cheyenne. Hed was a member of the First Baptist Church and was retired. Survivors include his wife of the home andf 1 sister-in-law, Willene Parks of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; 1 niece Baarbara Graham of Norway; and 1 nephew, Don Parks of Sand Springs, Oklahoma. Services were conducted by A.L. Martin and Aubrey Cowan on Tuesday, March 16, 1982 at 3:30 p.m. in the First Baptist Church, Cheyenne with burial following in the Cheyenne Cemetery, Cheyenne, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma. Pallbearers were Rollin Reimer, Joe Whitson, Gene Whitson, Wayne Parkhurst, Jodie Archer and Eddie Tom Lakey. Arrangements by Rose Chapel Funeral Services of Cheyenne.
