He camed to Colony two months ago to visi his daughter, Mrs. Otis Quattlebaum, at whose residence he passed away. He was a member of the Moorewood Baptist church. He is survived by his wife, three sons, Ione C. Spears of Espanola, Arizona, Charles W. Spears of Tucson, Arizona, James D. Spears of Espanola, New Mexico; three step-children, Johnny Martin of Tulsa, Mrs. Inez Gamel of Okmulgee and Mrs. Otis Quattlebaum of Colony; nine grandchildren and one great grandchild. Millar was born at Ottawa, Illinois, September 25, 1865, and departed this life at the Sayre hospital September 6, 1948 at the age of 82 years, 11 months and 11 days. He was united in marriage to Cornelia H. Cutler at Doves, Iowa, November 28, 1895, who preceded him in death in 1945. To this union four children were born, all of whom survive. Mr. Millar was a pioneer of Oklahoma, coming to Roosevelt in 1907, later moving to Washita County where he made his home until 1927. After spending three years in Arkansas he moved to Reydon in 1930 where he spent the remainder of his life. As a young man Mr. Millar was active in the I.O.O.lF. Lodge and was a life member of the Spring Creek Baptist church in Washita County. Mr. Millar spent most of his life at the carpenter's trade until 1930 when he retired. He was a kind hearted Christian father loved by neighbors and friends. He leaves to mourn his passing his four children, Mrs. H.T. Sanders of Springlake, Texas; Paul Millar, Granfield, Oklahoma; Mrs. Myron Mills and Fank Millar of Reydon; 20 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives. Funeral services were conducted Tuesdaqy, September 7, 1948 at 3 p.m. in the community building at Reydon with Rev. Horace Woodard officiating. Burial was in the White Rose cemetery, Reydon, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma by the side of his wife, under the direction of the Fatheree Funeral Home. Peggy spent her early years living on St. James Road Enfield, Middlesex, Englaand, with her parents, her sister Iris, sister Margaret, and brother Raymond. Many of her fond childhood memories included the time she spent with her grandparents, John and Florence Bredstall. Peggy attended scool at St. James Road Preimary School but was forced to leave school at the age of 14 to work in a factory making rifles due to the onset of WWII. The war brought a change to Peggy's life when she met American soldier, Ernest Hubbard of Strong City, Oklahoma. They married on February 24, 1945, at St. Matthew Church, Ponders End, England. Soon after, her life became a span between two continents when she left her home in Englan! d and began her new life Oklahoma. Peggy spent her entire life living in Oklahoma. Peggy became an American citizen on May 2, 1960. Even though Oklahoma was her home, she never forgot her British heritage and home. On more than 30 different occasions, she travelerd to England to spend time with her English family. She retired from C.R. Anthony Company in 1983 and began the job she probably enjoyed the most, being a grandmother and nanny. She never met a stranger and had something in common with most everyone. Her British accent was a fascination for all that knew her, but her warmth and caring spirit was what endeared them to her. She leaves behind three loving children; John and Linda Hubbard of Perkins, Oklahoma, Charles and Deborah Fesmire of Helena, Oklahoma, and Sharon and Richard Herrington of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; 1 sister, Margaret Haeffner of Headington, Oxford, England; Grandchildren, Chad Hubbard, Stephanie and Troy Shepard, Damon and Darcey Fesmire, ! Scott Fesmire, Michael Trammell, Jon Spence, Josh and Nicoled Herringt on; 2 Great Grandchildren, Joshua and Kristen Shepard, and nieces, nephews, and host of relatives and friends. "Pappy" Calvert as he was known to us, was born January 29, 1860 in the state of Alabama. Leaving there at the age of four years he moved with his parents, James Elias and Mary Pearson Calvert to Johnson county, Texas then to Mineral Wells, Texas and later he came to the Panhandle where he met and married Miss Robbie Ann Stephens of Mobeetie, Texas in 1888. To this union were born six children, all of whom are living. They are: Mrs. Ora Waldrip, McAlester, Oklahoma; R.M. Calvert, Elk City, Oklahoma; R.F. Calvert, Hereford, Texas; Mrs. R.F. Sprowls, Frank Calvert and E.W. Calver, all of Cheyenne, Oklahoma. He was not only an early pioneer but a good neighbor and a loyal devoted husband and father. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Walker Ferguson of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Rev. Brodaced Elkins, pastor of the First Methodist Church of Cheyenne. The musical numbers rendered were under the direction of Mrs. J.H. Tunnard. Pall bearers were the grandson, Randall Calvert, Derward Calvert, Merril Calvert, Fremont Sprowls, Charlie Sprowls, Louis Sprowls, Memory Sprowls, Bob Waldrip. Assisting with the flowers were: Frances Sprowls, Nettie Sprowls, Kathlyn Calvert, Johree Calvert, Honwea Rhoton, Zola Sprowls, Loretha Vick, Grance Necase and Lois Waldrip. He leaves to mourn his departure, a wife, six children, eighteen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, a brother, Doc Calvert of Ft. Worth, Texas, and a host of other relatives and friends. Swope, Reydon, Orville Selby, Strong City, Alonzo Selby, Elk City, Mrs. Clarence Samples, Leedey and Dillard Selby, Pleasanton, California; a brother, W.F. Selby, Stroude, Oklahoma 27 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Charles Simpson, Methodist pastor at Shattuck, assisted by Rev. D.L. Heath, Assembly of God pastor of Reydon on Friday, at the Reydon community building. Burial was in Union Chapel cemetery north of Reydon with the Tunnard Funeral Home in charge. Relatives from a distance attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Willie Selby, Mr. and Mrs. Dick Hull, Mrs. Elsie Habble and Mr. and Mrs. Will Selby all of Stroud, Winfre Selby, Oklahoma Citty, Mr. and Mrs. Parvin Hooper, Perryton, Texas, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Smith, Roll, Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Selby, Roll and all of the childdren of the deceased. Clift was born Feburary 1, 1870 at Marshfield, Mo. He was married to Nancy Coots June 1, 1890 and to this union 10 children were born. He and his family came to Roger Mills Ccounty in 1911 and have resided in this community since that time. Mr. Clift was preceded in death by his wife and 5 children. He passed to his reward January 18, 1948 after a lingering illness of about 4 years. He leaves to mourn his going two daughters, Mrs. Elssie Hanks of Lake View, Oregon; Mrs. Dorothy Knox of Oakdale, California; three sons, Burnice, Elston and Home Clift all of Reydon; one sister, Mrs. Harriett Brister of Los Angeles, California; one brother, Flake Clift of Lubbock, Texas, also 18 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren and many other relatives and a host of friends. Services were held Wednesday, January 21st, 1948 at 2 P.M. from the Community Building at Reydon, with Rev. Charlie Simpson of Shattuck officiating. Mrs. Parman died at the home of her daaughter, Mrs. T.A. Gilbert, at 2:24 a.m. January 27th, 1948. Interment was in the Dempsey cemetery, Dempsey, Roger Mills County, Oklahoma. Rev. Charles Simpson of Shattuck and Rev. Horace Woodard officiated at the services. Mrs. Parman was born November 29, 1864 at Wintersett, Iowa. She moved with herr parents to Albany, Missouri when a small child. She was married to Giles Parman, December 24, 1885. In 1907 she came to Oklahoma with her husband and settled in the Dempsey community where she resided until the death of her husband in 1937. She is survived by five children; two daughters, Mrs. T.A. Gilbert of Reydon and Mrs. Moses Whittinggton, of Ryan, Oklahoma; three sons, F.M. Parman, Grimes, Oklahoma, A.B. and H.G. of Reydon; one sister Mrs. C.M. McNeese, Buffalo, Wyoming; fifteen grandchildren, and twenty-eight great-grandchildren. Those from a distance attending the funeral were Rev. and Mrs. Moses Whittington, Ryan. Jackson was a contractor driller in a copper mine in Globe and had been married about seven years. His mother, wife and brother, Iray were at his bedside. He is survived by his wife, the former Miss Edith McKinney, of Elk City, three children, Jimmy Dean, six years of age, Sharon kay, four and Ronnie 27 months. There also survive three sisters, Mrs. Laurence Beckel, of Durham, Oklahoma, Mrs. Eldon Shinault of Elk City and Mrs. Cecil Mitchell of El Monte, California; his mother, Mrs. Mattie Calloway of El Monte, California; and three brothers, Leon Jackson, Elk City, Everett Jackson, Strong City, Oklahoma and Iray Jackson of El Mone, California. Funeral services were held at Globe, Arizona Saturday at 5 p.m. The remains were shipped to El Monte, California for burial.
