    1. [OKPUSHMA] "Comments" From County Awards Votes
    2. Sharon Crawford
    3. I ask for several of the "Comments" voters were putting down when they voted for "County of the Month Award" to see what they look for on an OKGenWeb county site. I would like to share just a few for Push Co. and several others with those of you that also might in interested. ---- Pushmataha: * I really like the Pushmataha web site and found lots of info on it. Whoever has that county is doing a GREAT job. Sethie. * This site is simply beautiful to behold and is very artistically done with love and care. Sandi * The graphics are pleasant to view while researching. The county information gives you a good background of the county your family lived in, even if you aren't able to find them (your family) on this county web page at this time. Very informative. Paula * A great site and informative... nicely done!!!. Glenda * Fantastic web site! Lots of work went into this page! Markie * like to read about people that I heard my dad talk about. Great site! James * Especially nice for anyone wanting to learn more about OK history and the information included in the other records available. Elizabeth * A wonderful site. I found my Moses family through here, and I couldn't have done it without all the good help. Thanks to everyone. Joy * Pushmataha Co. is full of history. It has the Choctaw Capital at Tuskahoma, the beautiful Kiamichi Mountains and River. It was named after the distinguished chief, Pushmataha. The county seat, Antlers, was so named since there was a spring where Indians and settlers gathered to get water. Many deer horns were deposited in the area giving the name Antlers Spring. It is still there. It is a rugged area still full of wildlife, lakes, and other areas of interest. Thank you Barbara ****** Other Comments * Rogers Co.* This web site is very quick and easy to use, and is constantly updated with newly transcribed records and new links. The county coordinator must work very hard at keeping this site interesting and helpful. Some other GenWeb sites have become a little stale. I really appreciate her efforts since I am researching several families in Rogers County. Susan * Pontotoc Co.* I cannot find the words to express how helpful, how professional, yet neighborly, friendly, and family oriented the keepers of this site are. I feel like I am at home. Gail * Garvin * I just want to say a great big thanks for what a magnificent site you're building. The anniversary of the Oklahoma Land Run of 1889 is coming up and I was working on a piece to post to my family website on what it was like to live in Oklahoma Territory and make that run. My great-grandfather and grandmother made the run, but also were living in the Whitebead area some thirty years BEFORE the run. I wanted something to give me a "grip" on what it was like in early day Garvin (actually Pickens) County. Your family stories, cemetery records, photos and history links were absolutely the key to get my mind in the frame it needed to be to write the piece to commemorate the 111th anniversary of Grandma & Grandpa's experience in the run. This won't be my last visit to your wonderful site. I wish I lived closer I'd volunteer to help wherever you'd need me! I do have some photos and access to more of the early day Thompson/Cobble/Carrier families from that general area and when things slow down in my "day job", I'll be back to learn more about posting those. Thanks again for all your hard work! It was a real help in framing the piece so our kids can understand just what it was like for their GGGgrandparents "this day in Thompson History - 111 years ago, April 22, 1889"! Barbara * LeFlore Co. * This not only the nicest county but the best looking. It is one of the biggest counties yet one of the forgotten ones. If you want to get away for the weekend into the great outdoors, you will not find a better area int the nation. The people are friendly and the sites are some of the most breathtaking to be seen. If Hunting,Fishing,Camping,Hiking,or just getting away it doesn't matter if you are young or old you will enjoy LeFlore County. Sid * Stephens Co. * Is a well organized site and the host is more helpful than I can describe. Susan * Creek Co. * The volunteers, listowner, and the listees have been so very helpful and willing to share any and all information they may have pertaining to any requests I might have asked concerning my quest to fill the branches of my tree. Thank you! Jerri * Logan Co.: I have received invaluable information about my ancestors from the Logan County Genealogical Society, including color pictures sent using their own time and money. Bouquets to them!
