Robbie, When I go back to the Rick's College FHC again, I will check the 1900 IT census. Have been going through it a lot lately. It is true there are several rolls just for Choctaw Nation alone, but found it very rewarding to go through them as I have found several relatives on it. Hello again, I want to thank you all for the replies I've gotten. I'm going to write the Historical Society in Antlers that you mentioned. I'd call but it's long distance from Los Angeles :-) It's also a lot harder to do research on Oklahoma from Los Angeles, but I'm lucky in that I only live 2 blocks from the Family History Center here. It's suppose to be the best one after the main center in Utah. Of course, they don't have much about Pushmataha Co. or Oklahoma besides Indian Nation records and Census records. Maybe I should ask you one more question since you're people that have probably researched Oklahoma a lot more than I have. Do any of you know what Enumeration District Antlers and Finley were in in the Indian Territory census of 1900? Not everyone shows up in the Soundex as I'm sure you know and very few of the towns were incorporated back then, so they don't show up on the headings of the census pages. They didn't break it down into counties and Choctaw Nation covers several Microfilm rolls. The thought of going through each roll line by line is discouraging to say the least. If anyone has done some research to find relatives on the IT 1900 Census around or near Antlers and Finley, could you please check your notes and see what the Enumeration District was? Pretty please :-) I sure wish there were maps of the E.D.s somewhere that were easy to access. It would help a lot. Thank you, Robbie Robinson

Why don't you check the Choctaw Nation site on the ~itgenweb for OK. My ggrandparents were in Choctaw Nation 1900 SD 73 ED 79, Division 6. Near as I can figure they were in the NW Choctaw- NE Bryan ounties, so that roll might have the Antlers area. More family was in the same Sd-ED, but Division 6 Might help you narrow it down a bit. Hi Robbie, All I can say is don't give up. I believe there are a few subscribers to the OKPUSHMA list that are from Antlers or Pushmataha County. The list has been real quiet since it started, but I'm thinking and hoping it will pick up after the first of the year, after all the holidays are over. And usually, people at Christmas get a new computer, and we usually see an influx of new people on the internet in January and February. Unfortunately, I do not live in Antlers or Pushmataha County. I live in Idaho. Have you looked on the site for important addresses for historical societies in and around Pushmataha County? Should be a few you can contact. There are a few subscribers to this list that have access to some cemetery books. Off the top of my head, I can't remember who they are, but if you would go to the web site and read the guest book, they signed in there and stated what they have at their disposal for look ups. Hope this helps. Good luck. Hello, I posted the item below on the Pushmataha Co., Ok site 6 months ago. I haven't had any answers and no luck in other palces I have searched. I am hoping that you can point me in the direction of someone that may be able to help me in finding out about Martha Josephine FITZGERALD and her son, Robert D. FITZGERALD's family. They were living in Antlers as of the 1910 census. I have reason to believe that Martha Josephine died there. I sent off to the approporate department in Oklahoma to try to get her death certificate. Since the deathdate on the tombstone in the photo said 1914, I expected they probably had it. They wrote back that they could not find one for her. I had indicated that she might be under Martha Fitzgerald or Josephine Fitzgerald, since she was always called by her middle name. Still no luck. I have checked the Texas Death Index just in case, because some of her children eventually ended up in Texas. There was noting under any possiblity spelling of her name there either. I got to look at a book of Pushmataha Cemeteries for a few mins. once before a library close and couldn't find anything Fitzgerald. I'm really wondering what to do now. I'm at a loss. I really want to find out more about her and I know little or nothing about her son Robert's family. Is there any one or any kind of genealogy or historical society around that in located in Antlers or at least researches Pushmataha Co. that I might be able to contact? Thank you, Robbie Robinson FITZGERALD, ROBBINS, KISTLER Robbie Robinson Posted: 5-1-99 I'm searching for info on my g-g-grandmother, Martha Josephine FITZGERALD. She was in the Pushmataha Co. 1910 census of Antlers living with her son Robert D. FITZGERALD (38), his wife Lola B. (33), & their children Alfred (14), Luther D. (13), & Walter Dall (6). She was the 69 year old widow of Alfred McElroy FITZGERALD w/her own income (maybe a Civil War Pension) & was born in North Carolina. Her maiden name was KISTLER. Her children had all been born in Mississippi & Texas. I've found a photo of her daughter Maggie S. FITZGERALD (Mrs. Wiley ROBBINS) standing by a 4 ft tall grave monument that read, as far as I can tell, Martha FITZGERALD April 10, 1848 to Sept. 2, 1914. I think it might have been taken in the 1930's. I suspect she died in or near Antlers & would love to be able to confirm it. Robert's family was in Finley in the 1920 census w/out her, of course. I've not been able to find them in the 1900 Indian Territory census although all of Martha's other children & their families were in Coalgate in the future Coal County. I'd be very interested in finding out more about Robert's family, too. In 1920, Robert's son Alfred (24) was newly married to Jenne (16) & living 2 families away from his parents in Finley. Thank you.

Hello everyone........I'll join in with everyone else for the roll call. Its a great idea. I'm still searching for info. on Claude BEAVER. He was working in Clayton, Push. Co. as a railroad tie cutter when he became ill. Lung consumption. He died circa 1932 and I still haven't been able to find a death record, hospital record or any other record of him. He was working with his brother, Willy BEAVER and had a 11 or 12 year old son named Ather Troy BEAVER, (Ather was called RED in later years, don't know about when he was this young though). He would have been in school, church (? on which). If you see or find any info. on him/them while looking for your own I sure would enjoy hearing from you. Thanks, Darlene Beaver beavertd@brightok.net
I am Gayle, and live in Kansas. My research in Pushmataha includes Charles (1836-1912) and Rebecca LASURE SMITH and their children. Some of the children ended up in Paul's Valley, OK others moved to CA in the 1930's. Charles, and a daughter-in-law Mrs. George (Mary Birtie Manley) Smith are buried there. Charles and Rebecca's children are Charles, George, Rebecca, Cynthia, William B, James W., Mary Ann, Lillie, Rozella, Grace, and Arkie. They were in the area around 1910-20 as far as I can tell. I am especially looking for Charles Smith's brother's (A)Lnason and George , who were with him in St. Clair Co MO in 1880, and then I have lost them. These three men were born in LaPorte IN in the 1836, 45 and 53. I have photos, some documents, and would like to find someone who would like to exchange information. Gayle gayle1@wheatstate.com

Hello to all... My concentrated search has been for find the graves of my great-grandmother and great-grandfather and my great aunt. Their names are: Thomas (Tom) Benton HOWARD b. Jan 12, 1869 d.Apr.17, 1925 Mary Liza HOWARD b. June 14, 1875, d. Jan 7, 1911 Jessee HOWARD b. March 19, 1908, d. June 13, 1923 The trail has led me to Pushmataha County. I found in the census reports for 1910 and 1920 and they was living in Pushmataha County at both times. On the 1910 report it lists a town by the name of Finley. Also on the same report it shows my great-grandfather as a stockman for a company called Berging and Seling. I believe that is what is reads, the writing isn't too clear. If anyone has any information regarding them or this company, please email me. I am beginning to wonder if they might have been with the "Witness Protection Program." They are sure hard to find anything about! Euline Freeman Modesto, CA Searching for Aikman, Boatright, Dill, Howard, Totten

Hi i have the book on Cemeteries of Pushmataha. i looked .did not find ageorge Washington Davis, or Millie. . hettie
Carol, sorry, I don't have the book. My cousin had one that I looked through htis summer. THe Pushmataha County Historical Society has one. They were published some years ago, and there are no copies available, as I have tried to find one. Their address is, PO Box 285, Antlers, OK 74525. Send them a note and a SASE for reply. Ethel
Ethel, Do you have access to the Pushmataha cemetary records? If so can you look and see if you can find a George Washington Davis and a Millie Ann Davis? I only have a word of mouth date of a 20 year period of death on them. According to my step-grandmother, my grandfather, Noah Davis ran away at the age of 8-9 which woiuld have been around 1900. He came home as a young man to care for and bury both parents. He was married in 1918 so I imagine it was before this. I am thinking that they died sometime between 1900 and 1920. Please let me know one way or the other. I have not had any luck at all in tracing this family line and it's driving me crazy as my last name itself is Davis. Oh by the way Noah was born in Tuskahoma if that helps at all. Carol auntiemama@aol.com
Evenin' all, I have 2 families that were in Push County, so will talk about both. My Great grandparents, James M. Ashley, b. Oct. 25, 1952, (goodness, he was born 148 years ago, Monday) in Jackson CO. AL d. July 24, 1926, married Sarah Catherine "Cat" Ashley, Aug. 20, 1876 In Franklin Co. TN and "Cat" b. Dec. 5, 1855, Franklin Co. TN, d. Aug 30, 1948, are both buried in the Antlers City Cemetery. They moved from Franklin Co, with their young son William John b, July 28, 1877, first to Clark Co. AR in 1879, are on the census there, then into Hot Springs County AR, near Malvern. By 1910 they were in Hughes Co. OK. When they moved to Push Co. is unknown at the moment, haven't found them in 1920. I know at least 2 of their daughters stayed there, as I have found them in the Push Cemetery book. One daughter, Pairlee llived in Clayton. She died 11/30/1976 and is buried in Stanley Cemetery. The other daughter Clara died 6/1/1931 and is buried at County Line Cemetery, along with twin daughters. There could still be some of my Ashley cousins in the county, but haven't found them yet. Another great grandfather, Ezekiel Cherry Crisp, b. April, 1851 Clark CO. Ar, d. Dec. 31, 1922 m. Virginia Katherine "Kate" Warrick March 12, 1871 in Paris, Lamar Co. TX, is buried in Jumbo Cemetery. Also buried there are: a son, William Mansil Crisp, b. Jan. 27, 1877, Tx, d. Sept. 20, 1918, a daughter, Evelina (Lena) Crisp Stockton, b. 1902 Indian Territory, d. 1922, A son-in-law, Mont Churchman, and two Crisp babies, possibly the young sons of my grand father, Andrew Jackson Crisp, Alfred b. 12/20/1918, d. 3/4/1920 and William Raymond, b. 2/14/1922, d. 8/7/1923. I still have cousins from this line in Push County. Would love to locate any new Ashley or Crisp cousins left in the area. Ethel Crisp Taylor
Welcome, Sharon, Euline & Pam and everyone else. The list has been rather quiet, not as busy as the CHOCTAW-L list, but I'm glad we have it to help everyone looking for their ancestors in Pushmataha County, OK. Just wish I lived there to be of more help. Sharon, hope you are taking it easy after your surgery. Glad to see you up and around on the net. Let's have a roll call. Everyone post your surnames with dates and places (if you know them) and see if we can't get some responses or find new cousins. I haven't asked for one before now, thought I'd wait until there were a few of us. Also, I appreciate any input anyone on this list would like to give on the Pushmataha County web site. You can see it at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~okpushma I do know I need to update it, but have recently resigned from my job, last day should be around the 12th of Nov, then maybe I can get to genealogy on a full time basis. Hello, my name is Carol Davis and I am researching my Davis roots. My grandfather, Noah Ernest Davis, was born 29 August 1892 in Tuskahoma, OK. Pushmataha Co. I.T. His parents were George Washington Davis if Georgia and a Millie Ann Hubbard of Tennessee. My grandfather married in 1918 to a Pearl Mae Hill of Albany, OK. She was born in 1896 and died about 1929-30 in Haileyville, OK. Noah had 2 brothers that I know of a Joseph W. Davis and a Sam Davis. When Noah died in CA. in 1957, Joseph was living in Ada, OK. and Sam in Russellville, Ark.
