I just obtained the information prior to my coming up to Oregon and I have not had time to do further research on it. I found it interesting that Marvel Greenberry Holbert married Mary Jane Spears. I don't know if she was related to Martha, but it seems likely although I have not found a connection - yet! Mary Jane Spears was Cherokee, but I am not sure if Martha Jane Spears was also. (My uncle told me his maternal grandparents were Indian but neither ever applied for their benefits.) Keep me posted if you find out anything on these people - I would appreciate it very much. Marvel "Green" Greenberry Holbert's father is believed to be John O. Halbert/Holbert and I believe they were from Virginia > West Virginia > North Carolina, etc. Understand there was a place called Holbert's Cove. Green was killed near Sulphur Springs, TX according to my uncle and after his death, Grandmother Holbert came to live with the Parker family in Pontotoc County until her death in 1914.
