I think I may have found the "mystery" mom that I've been searching for thanks to Bessie for looking her up for me. I need to find some more information to make sure I have indeed found her. Her name is Mary A. Pullen (I think her maiden name might be Mary Ann Boyd) born in Tenn. in 1844. She had 2 other children that I found: Mary I., born 1867, and Phillip born 1869.
