    1. Re: [OKPONTOT] Vanoss School
    2. Susan, I found the picture and copied it to my computer for mother to see but it was elementary children and she taught high school.. I will see if she has any high school material. Mostly she taught at Fitzhugh but that one year she stayed in Vanoss during the week and caught the train back to Ada on Friday where my grandparents and I picked her up. She was going to college at East Central but because of the war there was a teacher shortage and the juniors and/or seniors were allowed to teach. I was born at Lawrence about halfway between Ada and Roff. It was a Portland Cement town and both sets of my grandparents lived there. Oscar Templeton was a track foreman and kept the electric cars running. I am not sure what job Ira Clark had. Ira died in 44 or early 45 (my notes are not in front of me) and is buried at Roselawn in Ada. Papa (Oscar) retired from the company and is buried at Lightning Ridge. Oscar and Buelah moved to Roff after he retired. They bought an old house and up in the attic there was a pad of invoices with the date printed 189_ so that the last of the year could be written in. There is a picture of my Mom and her sister Beatrice with their grandparents on my McCracken page (taken about 1921. http://angelfire.com/ga2/donnaparrish/jnodicey.html Her Grandpa Sam McCracken was born in 1841 in Tennessee. Mom and Beatrice are both still alive as is their younger sister Peggy. They all live in Georgia now. Also see Lighning Ridge Cemetery for more data on this family. Donna
