James A. McCord, born at Bolivar, Tennessee, and his wife Ida (Cushman) McCord, came to Indian Territory, and were among the earliest settlers at Roff. They later moved to Ahloso, where he operated the first store and post office in that community. Their children were: Ruth McCord Russell; Hattie McCord Owensby; Mary McCord Tucker; Edd McCord; Robert McCord; and, Calvin P. McCord. Calvin P. McCord was born 16 July 1906, in Ada, and lived here all his life. He went to school at Ahloso. On 26 April 1930, he married Georgia Stripling, in Blanchard, Oklahoma.
