    1. Re: [OKPONTOT] Adoption
    2. Back in 1991 we were able to obtain the entire adoption file of my father in Washington Co. Oklahoma and he was adopted in 1920. Oklahoma has open adoption records. We wrote to the court and requested the information, they copied everything and sent them to us. But you have to write to the court where the adoption took place. Hope this helps Carolyn

    3. Thanks Carolyn, I always thought OK had closed records and was one of the toughest states to obtain any information from regarding adoptions. Going to the court is something new and interesting. I have never heard that. Thanks for your reply and help. 3. Will you got me on this one. When did Oklahoma open their adoption records. My sister and I tried for many years just to find out if our sister and two brothers were adopted or just put in foster homes. The judge told us he couldn't even tell us that much by law. It took writing to a man in Washington D.C. to get our sister and two brothers records open. We found my sister and two brothers in 1988. One week after that same judge read the records to us. I wish we could have a copy of those two adoptions. I'll love to stick them in my Aunt's face, and tell her it took us 34 years to undo what she did to our family as well as a few other things. BK,,, I wish you all the luck in the world and I'll even send up a pray for you and your family. Carolyn,, I mean no disrespect to you. In some cases I think it would be great if the adoption laws did get open in 1991.
