Whitehurst, age 39 (@ June 11, 1920), white, male, married, born in Arkansas, father born in U.S., mother born in Texas, worked as a laborer in the oil field Mary M. I found the following in the 1920 Oklahoma Census for Carter Co., Hewitt Township. The writing was difficult to read but it looked like the spelling you were looking for. I hope this helps. There is only one ECIR in the 1930 census and it is a married woman in NY...Just in case it is a misspelling, I checked for ECIL and there are 56 of them but none with the surname Whitehurst... An 8 year old will not show up in index of the 1920 census..the only Whitehurst family in Ponototoc county does not have a child named Ecir.. Hart OK is about 8 miles, as the crow flys, due south of Stratford, four or five miles due east of Lightning Ridge. It is no longer a "town"...nothing is there now just the old cemetery.

Hart is in Pontotoc County, the county where Ada, Vanoss, Center, Pickett, Lawrence, Latta, Oil Center, and Egypt, among others are.

My folks used to live in the last house on right out in that area 1/2 mile before getting to the 4-way stop. There were a dozen or so tombstones right behind their house on the Thompson property that were knocked over by cattle that have now been bladed over I understand. You might pull up the Pontotoc Co.
