It is in a pasture that belongs to someone so you must get permission to go there. A friend took us to it because he knew I was looking for a great grandparents grave but he didn't remember the name. It didn't belong to us but he tries to keep it upright because it is a large stone. I would say is Close to Oil Center about 1 mile West but no roads to it. Do you have some relatives that you think might be there? There is only 1 grave that we could see. He does not know the name of the old settlement though. If you feel it could be your relative let me know and I will call him to see if he can take you to it.

    3. Hi Wanda, Have you checked the book "Notable Southern Families", Compiled by: Zella Armstrong, published Chattanooga, TN, Vol 1 - 1918, Vol 2 - 1922, Vol 3 - 1926, Vol 4 - 1926, Vol 5 - 1928, Vol 6 - 1933., Re-print: published by Genealogical Publishing Company, Inc., Baltimore 1974. The copies I had access to were described as "Six Volumes in Three." The book containing volumes III-IV had a detailed chapter on the TUNNELL family. The connected WORTHINGTON family was detailed from Mary WORTHINGTON, b. 20 Feb 1804, TN, d. 01 Sep 1880, TN back to William WORTHINGTON, b. 1540, England, d. England, m. About 1560, described as being "Of Worthington, England." I'm told by my librarian spouse, that most Southern libraries would have these volumes in their genealogical collections. I'm connected to the WORTHINGTON family through Mary. She was my gg-grandmother. My connection to Pontotoc County is through my PHARES line. -----Original Message----- From: Wanda VanderVeen [mailto:wvander@bellsouth.net] Sent: Sunday, September 26, 2004 9:26 AM To: OKPONTOT-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [OKPONTOT] Sutherland (?), Worthington I am looking for any information regarding the family of Tommie Josephine Sutherland (?), born in Ada, Oklahoma on 17 Oct 1911. She married my father, Teddy Worthington, and they had four children. Mary Rose b. 1928 in Los Angeles, CA. Donald b. 1930 in Pontotoc County, Oklahoma. Dorothy Jean b. 1932 in Los Angeles, CA Lester Thomas b. 1934 in Los Angeles, CA. Tommie, Mary Rose, Donald, and Lester were all the victims of a drunk driver on the evening of 12 June 1942 and Dorothy lived until 14 September 1992. All of them died and are buried in the greater Los Angeles area. If anyone can give me any information of the Sutherland's and Worthington's I would be grateful. No matter what happened in later life, Dad always loved Tommie and his kids.
