I had made some contact with Jan, but have not been able to contact her for a while now. You may remember me as Gena, that is what everyone calls me. Which one is your parent. We were the 3 children that our grandfather raised, that used to come to Uncle Will,s store everyday, boy, do I miss those days. Do you still live in Paris? We live in Fort Worth, but last year, my grandfather,s house was put up on the courthouse block for back taxes, and no one bought it, so, I went to the city of Paris, and paid the back taxes on it. It needs a lot of work, the other kids lived in it, and let it go to the dogs. I was shocked to see it look that way. We will be going to Paris to try and fix the old place up soon, but it is hard for us to get the days off. I just could not see it done that way, it liked to broke my heart. I do hope to hear from you soon. I don,t know what information you have, but I hope we can help each other. I just found some information about Isaac hic! ks, our ggg grandfather. He has been my brick wall for the longest time. I have been going to the Fort Worth Archive Center checking on the names I have on the Dawes Roll. When I was a little girl, papa would tell me about how he had to live, and that he was native american, and I remember a relative we had, they was always trying to get papa to go get his roll no, because they had thiers. i wish he had. So at least I know it is there. I have been looking for years. I know that there were many different names. because they married more than one time, so I just have to find that one name. Wish me good luck. Vidia

Surnames: Hinton/Estes/Shumpert Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/FcB.2ACI/1244 Message Board Post: My great grandparents moved to Oklahoma Indian Territory in late 1890's. I know they ran a cafe and lived around the Ada-Duncan, OK area. Their names were George William "Will/Willie" Hinton and his wife Tillie/Tootie/Willie Schumpert/Shempert/Shumpert. Tillie was pregnant and died during childbirth in 1905. She is buried somewhere in the Duncan-Ada, OK area. Will and his son William Baudie got into some kind of trouble with the law and had to serve 3 months on the "P Farm" (jail). He put his 3 daughters on a train and sent them back to Mississippi while he went to jail. Some say that Will and Baudie escaped from jail and returned to Mississippi. One of their daughters was named Annie and married a Bernie Estes. They had 3 daughters by the names of Beatrice, Juanita and Ruby. Annie died in Atwood, OK sometimes after 1950. Can someone help me lookup information on this family? I want to find where my great grandmother is buried. Or can someone check jail record! s for around 1905 for Will Hinton and son William Baudie Hinton. Please e-mail me at anniestephens@bellsouth.net

    1. Re: [OKPONTOT] Obit please
    2. I guess I must have missed the original query, but if it was looking for an obit for someone from Tupelo, it will be at the Historical Society in Pontotoc County. All of the deaths from Tupelo are in the Ada Evening News. I would also suggest that you check the Ada Evening News online and see if they archive the obits. Peggy

    3. We have most obits after 1965--a lot of them before that we copied the important info. if available and have it on death cards. We usually ask at least $1.00 for each copy, takes time to look. copy and mail. 3. Tupelo is in Coal County You can see a Coal County website at: http://www.genroots.net Scroll down to Coal County There is a page there for the Genealogical Society and how to get in contact with them. If no one here can get the obit for you, they probably can. Another option since you believe that he died between 1997 and 2004 would be to write to the Oklahoma Vial Statistics - here is the link - http://www.health.state.ok.us/program/vital/brec.html and order a death certificate. This will give you the name of the cemetery he was buried in, cause of death and most importantly a death date. That will make it easier to find the obit. I believe the cost for the death certificate is $10. Hope this helps! 1. Obit please
    2. Thank you to gloverjl@cableone.net for sending Opal Helms's obit. Her obit lists a son Rickey Dale Helms of Tupelo, OK. Opal's daughter's obit does not list a brother Rickey, so he must have died. Opal died in March 1997 and her daughter in December 2004. So, can you please look for an obit for a Rickey Dale Helms of Tupelo, Oklahoma. Thank you! Brandon in California Not sure where Tupelo is!
