(Rebroadcast from another mass post.. this site ALSO includes a number of Pontotoc county families! particularly with north central arkansas roots.) Well.. its taken me over two months to finish my rehosting. A combination of a small attack of a disease I should be ashamed of getting at my advanced age (ok.. mono at 45 for the curious).. and getting the machine and operating system set up just so (know how many various operatiing systems there are? and web servers? and ... ) Hours of playing with this and that.. trying to find the BEST software (and setteling for the CHEAPEST BEST *grin*) went into figuring out how to put the world on my desktop, instead of a big impersonal out-of-my-control computer downtown at Internet America... and I began to despair.. BUT!.. My site, which WAS and will continue an outdated ghost for a while at http://www.cyberramp.com/~srb/gen/reevbakr.htm has now been moved to http://209.196.125.11 . This location now hosts both my "A North Central Arkansas Family Tree Farm" and another site, which someone slipped in my bag when i wasn't looking .. "The Everett Brain Trust Home Page", which details the collected research of several dedicated lunatics descended from the Everett family of Marion county and their kindred. These two pages are complimentary, and should both be of interest to researchers in the area. Running on a 233MMX machine with 64 Meg of memory and 9 Gig of hard disk space, running the wonderful and free Omni HHTP Daemon as a web server, we are hopefully able to handle the random researches of all of you. For those who are not familiar with my site, a quick overview. The North Central Arkanas et.al. is a collection of family trees, pictures, links, and my longwindedness concerning families in the North Central Arkansas area (primarily Marion, Searcy, Stone, Van Buren, and Cleburne but I'm flexible!). Core families include the Reeves, Bakers, Harness, Grinder, Barnetts, Everett, and Kester. (Many of these are also reflected on the Everett page). The site is intended more as a REGIONAL research page, rather than focusing on one family or one locality. We have 13,000 names in hundreds of family groups listed in the Omnibus Surname Index. There are pictures.. and room for MANY more now that we are on my own machine and have OODLES (lord, did i use that word?) of space. There is a copy of some of the Reeves Bible pages.. the account of their first travel to north Arkansas.. One of my favorites, and one that has gotten a number of comments (mostly giggles) from visitors is the "Picking Up Chicks at the Family Reunion" page.. outlining the close and multiple connections between a number of the area families, showing that in the mid 1800s, shopping for a bride often left one with a very small selection! Now, while the site is aimed at Arkansas familes.. the same database contains my Damned Yankee kin too.. My French and Irish Immigrants to Illinois and Ohio.. My trains of Illini who go back to revolutionary Virginia.. and my Wifes true Yankees, from the very early days of Massachusetts.. they didnt come with the Pilgrims.. they waited till the early folks built hotels before they showed up!!! Corliss, Stevens, Ryan, Gilligan, and Willards, this bunch tend to even out and balance the family tree! Already I have found kinfolk on both sides of "The Late Unpleasantness" who actually fought literally on opposite sides through the long campaigns in Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama and Georgia. New to the page are a guestbook, where you can poke fun at me and make suggestions "in person" rather than having to email, and a new Forum area for posting queries, information, and responses. These are new "adware" software I found, but hopefully the ads wont be too obtrusive. They bring with them a link to the Alta VIsta search engine as well, so you can laung a search directly from there. There is also a calendar, which will be brought online soon to allow folks to let me know about family reunions, decoration days, and the like. Please drop in.. no telling WHO you might find! These families fanned into Arkansas from Virginia, NC, Tennessee, and other points east, and thence to Texas, Oklahoma, and from the recent volume of inquiries most seem to have ended up in California! Take a peek.. make a suggestion.. and if you find someone.. and can expand our knowledge base.. please do let me know! I am always eager to get fresh blood in the table.. even 150 years dead! GEDCOMS and FTM files welcome! I am even in the process of setting up an FTP server to all easier transfer to the site. Bookmark it, and visit often.. because it will be updated MUCH more often now that I can fix things in 10 minutes rather than 8 hours! Welcome back to old friends.. and welcome home to new ones! Steve Bemrich Chief Forester and Webmaster, Head Cook and Bottle Washer Descendant of the Kesters, Everetts, Johnsons, Pierces, and Reeves.

Posted on: Pontotoc County Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ok/Pontotoc/809 Surname: PARISH, CONNELLY ------------------------- My grandfather Charles Wesley Connelly was in the Chickasaw Nation prior to statehood. There is a marriage record for: CONNELLY, CHARLEY 26 PARISH, MATTILA 24 20 JAN 1907 LONE ELM They are listed on the 1910 Census as living in the Holford area and have two daughters, Buela Mae Connelly and Rosa Lee Connelly. By 1920 they had moved to Kiersey in Bryan Co. In 1922 Mattila and her two younger daughters, Hazel and Winnifred, were killed in a house fire. My grandfather then moved to Albany in Bryan Co. and later married Ruby Elizabeth Stallings(my grandmother). Buela Mae Connelly married William Fred Sawyer and moved back to Kingston, Marshall Co. were she died in 1948. She is buried in the Highland Cemetery, Durant, Bryan Co. Fred Sawyer died in 1961 and is also buried in the Highland Cemetery, Durant. Fred and Buela had a daughter named, I believe, Carolyn. We do not know what happened to Carolyn Sawyer and would welcome any lead that might help locate her. I have found a record that indicates Joseph Booker Parish was in Pontotoc Co. and had at least two children, Martin V. Parish and Johnnie Mae Parish. Johnnie Mae Parrish shows to have been born in Lonelm, Marshall Co. I am hoping someone can supply informaiton on this family.
Hi I am looking for any info on James Claude Johnson and Rachel Reaney Thompson James is the son of my GG Grandmother sister. If any of these names are familiar or you are kin to these people please reply. We have been looking for this family for awhile. Thank You Tina
Sharon, Thank You so much for your information you have given me. I would like to know, as you probably noticed on the 1910 census two of their 4 children were already moved out of the household. George S. Mulder m: Ollie Myrtle Hendrix in 1903 and Laura m: Herbert Mays in 1909. Can you find any of these families, maybe their descendants have some clues on the Mulder side. I have no descendants for any of these children. And just for your info. the other two children James Mulder m: Carrie Steward, and Ervin m: Opal Tomlinson. Can you find any of these families in your Census records? George and Ollie Hendrix might have still been in Roff in 1910 after being married for 7 years already. Please let me know. Posted on: Pontotoc County Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ok/Pontotoc/805 Surname: PANNELL ------------------------- Ronnell, I believe somewhere between c.1910-1920, Lou(?)and Thomas Pannell of Roff, Pontotoc Co., OK were the adoptive parents of my father, Leon Clifford(Crouse)Pannell, b. 10 Sept 1910 Sedgewick, Sedgewick, KS., d. 20 Jan 1980 Visalia, Tulare, CA. I met them during a visit to Ada, OK in 1945 after they had left the farm - but I was too young to ask pertinent questions. They seemed very nice to me. I have no other information on them at this time - not sure if they owned the farm they left that was near my other grandparents home place in Indian Territory, although it is possible their home was the one you mentioned in your "first Post Office" story. I don't know how far it was from the farms to the little spot in the road known as "Roff" that sported a service station/grocery store/post office - all in one small building. I know of no other Pannell's living nearby in Indian Territory as my father never mentioned any. My uncle told me my mother's parents purchased their property (which was the next section over from the Pannell's)from an Indian man. My cousin's wife is researching the Pannell line since that is her family name. I have done very little research on this surname until now and I was searching primarily for her benefit and ran across your posting. If I should receive additional information about the Pannell's I will share it with you and I will inform her of this contact. Sorry I could be of no further help to you. Sure makes for interesting reading however. Good Luck!
