Posted on: Pontotoc County Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ok/Pontotoc/882 Surname: Factor ------------------------- Hi, Wish I could help you but the documents relating to Isteph Ifyaka Factor in Pontotoc Co, OK mention only female names and none are Factor. In rereading the papers I realized that she had no heirs. There are seven women who were given money or land in her will. I do not know who the women are who were given her land and money but the legal papers state that she had no heirs. Good luck in your search...
Posted on: Pontotoc County Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ok/Pontotoc/881 Surname: Factor, Johnson, Berry, Prince, Mayfielf ------------------------- I am searching everywhere, including Pontotoc Co. for A man named James Factor, who owned black slaves and Indian slaves in Oklahoma and Arkansas. I don't have a birth or death date for this man, but in finding him I will find information about my great grandfather. Any information you could give me would be a great help, and a giant step in my search. Thank you. T.R. Burns
My grgrandfather, T.J. Jackson Jr., was buried in Hart Cemetery in Jan. of 1911. His granddaughter, Della, was buried there in 1905. I'm wondering why no other Jacksons were buried in Hart. My grandfather was buried in Corely Cemetery in 1918; my grgrandmother, Julia Eldys Jackson, was buried in Corely Cemetery in 1939, rather than in Hart Cemetery next to her husband. Most other Jacksons that I know of were buried in Corley. I noticed death dates in Hart Cem as late as the early 1990's, so it doesn't appear that Hart was closed to further burials after my grgrandfather. Anyone know the history of Hart Cemetery, something that might explain my puzzle? Ken Jackson

Posted on: Pontotoc County Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ok/Pontotoc/879 Surname: Smedley ------------------------- I am looking for any information on my great great uncle Charles Aaron Smedley. He died in Ada, Pontotoc County on September 3, 1961. No one in the family knows anything about his death, but there is a rumor going around that he was found in a river. I am looking for any information anyone might have about him or his death. I am also curious to know if he had a second family in Oklahoma (he is originaly from Kentucky). Also, could someone give me the address/email/fax for the county coroner? I thought of trying that route if all else fails. I am also hoping that someone could tell me what cemetery he is in. Thanks for any help. Nancy Smedley

It is my understanding that two Tillery brothers, Frank and Thomas (or "Tom") Tillery, went to Pontotoc County around 1925. Franklin K. Tillery was born March 13, 1877 in Saline County, AR. He married (1) Rose Burnet and (2) Eda Belle Blair Crawford. His children were: Myrtle, Geneva Lucille, Edna Abby Estelle, Allie Walter, Virgil Thomas, Bertha, and Ruby Mae Tillery. Frank died in 1941 and is buried in Allen Cemetery. Thomas Tillery was born on September 23, 1881 in Perry County, AR. He married (1) Lillie Keener and (2) Martha Elizabeth Sanders Frederick. His children were: Lillie E., Thomas, Jasper, William T. ("Bill"), Joseph M., Cecil, Hanan (or Hanah?), Roda, Mary, Doshie, Beaty, Samuel Albert, Royal Franklin, and Imogene Tillery. Thomas died on June 18, 1943 and is buried in Allen Cemetery. I am writing a Tillery family history book that includes these people and their descendants. I need further information to complete the book. If anyone can help me, please email me at [email protected] Any help is appreciated! Thanks! Patty Taylor

Hi, I'm new to the list, and thought I would post my area of interest, in hopes that someone on the list might be able to help, or to point me in the right direction. I'm looking for a JOHN WILLIAM REED. In 1937, he listed his address as Route 2, Stonewall, Texas. John William Reed was born in Missouri (or possibly Arkansas) about 1869. He was the son of Samuel Reed, and Sarah (Reed) Ingram Reed. The family moved from Arkansas to Missouri to Kansas, and then to Texas by 1880. I'm not sure when John William Reed made his way to Pontotoc County. I just discovered that there is a John W. Reed buried in the Frisco Cemetery, west of Stonewall. His dates are Sep 5, 1866 - Jul 25, 1955. This MIGHT be the John William Reed I'm looking for, but I'm not sure. Any help, or ideas, would be appreciated. Mike Landwehr West Des Moines, Iowa

Thanks. Ellen
