Posted on: Pontotoc County Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ok/Pontotoc/893 Surname: REED, PATTON ------------------------- I'm looking for help with the following REED families in Pontotoc County: 1) John William REED, son of Samuel M. Reed and Sarah Mily (Reed) Ingram Reed. In 1937, as informant for the death certificate of a half-brother in Texas, John William Reed listed his address as Route 2, Stonewall, Oklahoma. John William Reed was born ca 1869. Is he the same John W. Reed who is buried in the Frisco Cemetery, west of Stonewall (dates on his stone are Sep 5, 1866 - Jul 25, 1955)? 2) Samuel M. and Sarah REED, parents of the John William Reed listed above, are reported to have lived around Fittstown, in Pontotoc County. I don't know the date, but suspect that it would be late 1800's or early 1900's. 3) Angeline 'Annie' REED, a daughter of Samuel M. and Sarah Reed, was first married to a Mr. Patton ca 1892-1897. I suspect they may have been married in the area around Fittstown. 4) Walter REED, who was related to Samuel M. Reed (brother?), reportedly lived in Pontotoc County. 5) Homer REED, possibly another son of Samuel M. Reed, is reported to have lived around Ada, Oklahoma. 6) George REED, also related to this Reed family, is reported to have lived at Ada, Oklahoma, as recently as the 1950's. I would appreciate assistance with any of these Reeds.

Posted on: Pontotoc County Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ok/Pontotoc/891 Surname: CROWDER ------------------------- I am the grandson of W.B. Crowder of Roff. He was a bridge builder and had one brother that I know of. He was married to Lura Spencer and they produced three children. One died at birth. The other two were a son, Thomas Spencer Crowder (my father) and a daughter, Virginia, who married Frank McCurdy. Both Thomas and Virginia are deceased. I have information leading back through our line to early colonial days. Will share freely what I have.

Thank you so much for the map. As I find my "family" I've often wondered where the place was that was listed with them. This will really help me pinpoint them. Thanks again , Rose
I visited Hart Cemetery last September. The easiest way to find it is to head South out of Stratford 'til you get to Corely Cemetery, head east on the dirt road that runs next to Corely Cem til it dead ends at another dirt road; bear to the right on that road, keep going about five miles til you see a sign on the left side of the road which is at the gate to Hart Cem. Ken Jackson
Hart Cemetery is located near Roff. The town of Hart no longer exist. I have a Twp. map for Pontotoc Co. at http://www.rootsweb.com/~okgenweb/twpmaps/pontotoc.html ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, January 24, 2001 6:21 AM Subject: Re: [OKPONTOT] Hart cemetery > Where is the Heart Cemetery located > Kay > > > ==== OKPONTOT Mailing List ==== > ListOwners: > Sharon Burnett Crawford [email protected] > Peggy Atwood [email protected] > > ============================== > Join the RootsWeb WorldConnect Project: > Linking the world, one GEDCOM at a time. > http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com > >
Hart Cemetery is in the middle of nowhere. I was able to get there a while back. Go west on the dirt road from Lightning Ridge Cemetery for a few miles. Watch on the right side of the road for the sign. I seem to recall it being high on the right. The Hart community it is named for is fairly invisible, so dont be looking for a "town" there. There are two gates (at least last time i was there).. One, on the road, was more of a rusting rotting pile of metal that had to be moved. Move it, and drive in. A short distance in is another swing gate, which is to the cemetery proper. Last time i was there (hunting the grave of an arkansas cousin who was killed by a wagon jacker near roff while woving to Allen) the cemetery was a mix of new stones, old stones, tumbled stones, and grass. I saw a report of cattle in there.. if they are. i suspect someone left the second gate open. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Wednesday, January 24, 2001 6:21 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [OKPONTOT] Hart cemetery Where is the Heart Cemetery located Kay ==== OKPONTOT Mailing List ==== ListOwners: Sharon Burnett Crawford [email protected] Peggy Atwood [email protected] ============================== Join the RootsWeb WorldConnect Project: Linking the world, one GEDCOM at a time. http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com

Where is the Heart Cemetery located Kay
People are still being buried in the Hart Cemetery, although there is no records for this cemeteries I was told that families just know where their lot is. A lot of the markers are gone now. This cemetery sits in the middle of a pasture. The last time I was there someone had pulled one of the WOW stones under a tree, I guess to sit on. And cows were walking around the cemetery. http://www.rootsweb.com/~okpontot/pontowns.html#Hart Sharon Ken and Judy Jackson wrote: > > My grgrandfather, T.J.
