They moved to the Pontotoc County area of OK sometime after 1900. They were the parents of Ples Jefferson Richardson, who married Louisa Margaret Stidham on 20 Aug 1914 in Vanoss, OK. My father, Ples Richardson was born on 8 Jan 1929 in Vanoss. His sisters and brothers were: Marie Richardson Alford, Bernice Richardson Turner, Florence Richardson Webb, Flora Richardson Shumard, Helen Richardson Heath, Ruby Richardson Gurley, Margaret Sue Richardson Johnson, Mary Lou Richardson Covert, Percy Richardson, Clark Richardson, and Joe Richardson. Hi, I'm trying to determine when a Reed family I'm researching left Pontotoc County. They were in the 1910 Pontotoc County census, but not in 1920. Does anyone on the list know whether there are any tax lists for Pontotoc County for the period 1910-1920? (maybe 1850-1870) d.? From Arkansas, Texas or Oklahoma. Supposed to be my maternal great-grandfather, but 1900-1910 census lists show a different name (Robert James Whisnant). Also looking for paternal grand-father: Mac Euwen Belcher, father of Ellen, Grace, Blanche, Alice, Roy Clinton (my father). Husband of Ethel Candace (Hoyle) Belcher Voyles. He was born about Apr 21, 1850-1858, died 1909. Supposed to be buried in Frisco Cemetery, but I can't find his name in the on-line listing. My relatives came from Arkansas, Texas and Oklahoma. Seem to all settled in the Pontotoc County area and most are buried in local cemeteries.

In Lightning Ridge is found Birchie Florence Cantrell, 1886-1910, with the following in the record i have.. "Born about 1886 den Dec 13, 1910. She died from tuberculosis. She married Han Cantrell (1884 1950) They had one child: Ella Goldie. Haden is buried in the Oakdale Cemetery. Arlington, Texas. Haden married, second, Estelle Williams." Dont have any others.. might check.. Rosedale?? Cemetery in Ada as I have no record of the burials there. Hope this helps I suspect they all link together but have no further infomation.. Oklahoma in that time was no more dangerous than many other parts of the US.

He is my ggrandfather. He married Mary Elizabeth Birchfield in Pontotoc County and fathered 1 child with her, Delmar Franklin Johnson. The two divorced. Later Martin married again to a lady named Eva, they had at least 5 or 6 kids. My granddad didn't know his father, and also thought he was an only child until the day he died. We don't believe any of these children were living in the home of John David and Lela B. Arbuckle in the time frame mentioned however. My grandparents were Edward and Lillian Savage Arbuckle, married ca.1910-1911 in Tx.,they had 2 sons: 1.James Calvin b.1912, married Florence May Goodwin Oct,1932(these were my parents) 2. Harold Olin(also known as"Shorty")b.1915, married Pearl Lucas Edward(Eddy)and Lillian died when their sons were small,and the boys were sent to live with family friends(the family Price),and then,their uncle James Arbuckle. "South" Ward was a car dealer with Prince Chevrolet in Ada. in 1940's. Other children of Mary and South Ward were: Carl Ray Ward, Dick Ward, Fay Ward Blassingame King Souza,and Farris Monroe Campbell Ward. Mary Wood Ward's parents were Richard R Wood (my ggfather) and Sarah Freeny Alexander Wood (Choctaw), daughter of Robert Clay and Sarah Ellis Freeny. Milo Arbuckle organized the Oak Avenue Baptist Church in Ada in 1940's. His parents were Louie and Mary Bartlett Arbuckle. Milo was born 1907 in Hartman, AK and died 1994 in Midland, TX. His wife, Frieda lives in Midland, TX where Milo Arbuckle retired after many years as a Baptist Minister. Any information about any of these families or connected families is welcomed! Nell Nicholson
