Hi Brenda, Thanks for the look ups. Yes, my Abernathys were in SE MO, a Turner Abernathy was in Ste. Genevieve County in 1814, and was about 22 years old at that time but I still do not have any proof of his parents or if he was from NC or not. My grandfather, Charles F. Abernathy, a descendant of Turner Abernathy was in Ottawa County before 1920. I don't know who the McNealy is that you mentioned but my great grandmother Minnie McNeely lived at Picher with her 3rd husband, John McNeely. I descend from her 1st husband George Morgan whose daughter Myrtle married Charles F. Abernathy. Of course the spelling of McNeely or McNealy wouldn't matter that much.
