I was born in Picher, Ottawa County, Oklahoma. My father, Stewart Ed LAFFERTY, was born in Indian Territory. For some unknown reason he and his father,Charles, went all over the states but always ended back in Picher. If anyone has anything on the Lafferty families in Ottawa County please send me a copy. I wonder how many of our ancestors and we as descendants have come down with some kind of lung problem because of the lead and zink mining in Ottawa County? Mother is from a large family, and she went on to have 11 children, four of which was born in Picher. Out of the 11 children 9 have some kind of lung problems 2 of us on oxygen, all of us born during and after her years in Picher.
