Can somebody look something up for me? Sonja
Yes, sorry I missed lots of mail the last few months, phone problems resulted when the phone company connected the house next door & "accidentally" tied our line into theirs, then we had to go without a phone for a while. Now we are back & I am sorry I missed out on your post & many others. Connie, so sorry to hear of the death in your family. My thoughts and prayers are with you and yours. Thank you so much. Every little bit helps. Hi everybody, I had a death in the family so had to go to Miami, Ok last week. While there I went by and took pictures of the headstones that had been requested. (Hope to have them developed this week and will e-mail them as soon as I can.) Darla, Found some very interesting history for you while there. As we drove through town I noticed on the American Legion building, James L. Wallen. Evidently, the legion was named in remembrance of him. Also, when I mentioned the name Wallen, my step-father's ears perked up. He said that Ben Wallen was his god-father. He said his family moved to Lincoln Park, MI (outside of Detroit) during the depression (1930's). When they came back to OK the Wallen's came also. My step-father's name MAHURIN. He said he thought Ben's wife was Pearl. There was only one Wallen in the area phone book, Joyce M. Wallen, 1506 Scott Lane, Miami, OK, 918-542-6721. I think that all the Wallen's in the Fairland Cem. are related as they were all buried within the same area. We found on the Ottawa School Census, 1912-1915, Wallen, E.S., Fairland Ora 6-25-1894 Benjamin 6-18-1896 Richard Frank 11-30-1898 Wallen, Mintie Tim 4-7-1894 (This tells me that they lived in Fairland also before going to Michigan.) Bonnie: Your John Cherry is buried in between Francis C. James and Ada B. and Jesse P. James. There has to be some connection for him to be in the middle. By their ages, I would assume one was a daughter and the other the grandchild (died at age 20). Also, my sister and I went by the OK historical Society Friday to get copies of my 2nd great grandfather's Indian Pioneer Interview. In the interview he talks about John Cherry, who ran the grocery store at Fairland, OK. Cool! Huh? Hi Sammy, some times it is amazing what you may find in genealogy. I have known my grandfather was Francis Marion Hatfield for most my life and had known that he was from Arkansas. Now guess what? I understand that he also might of lived in Oklahoma......sure a lot of family on both sides showing up in the same areas all of a sudden {{{{scares me}}}}....Ha, just joking. But if in you wanderings you come across a Francis Marion Hatfield b: abt 1894. Did not like his first name of Francis so oft times went by F.M or Marion Hatfield. Don't go out of your way Sammy, just if you happen to see it. Thanks Dema National Domestic Violence Hot Line (1-800-799-SAFE)

According to my Mother who lived there, Barlow GEE was a barber in Wyandotte, probably in the thirties. He and his family had a nice home across from my Grandfathers (Jesse Grant) store. Barlow and wife had a number of children. When my Grandmother (Jessie Himebaugh Grant) died in 1927, Barlows wife did laundry and such to help out my Grandfather. Kay in Ca
