According to a directory there was a ESTES N S ( Susie ) wks R M Southworth Listed in Quapaw, Oklahoma in 1917-1918 directory. Is he the one your looking for? I am not researching this family just happen to come across this information. There were also a few ESTES in Miami, Ok but neither of them was a Nathan or started with the letters of "N". Wesley my great grandfather Eula my grandmother. Frank Thompson brother to Robert, married Myrtle? he remarried but do not know to who, children were Thelma and Ewin Thelma had no children as far as I know she married Howard Millard and lived in Peoria, Edwin married Mary Alice ? they had children Jerry Wayne, Edwin James, Mary Jane. another brother Albert married a Addie or Maude had children Evert and Mildred. Robert did not stay in picher not sure about Albert but Frank did and he did work in the mines, I am not sure which one I have pictures of several differnt ones. If you run into these names in your family please let me know and I will keep an eye out for your John Thomas Thompson. There father was Perry Thompson he died in picher may 1919 but is buried in Cherokee Co. KS there mother was Thankful Leake Thompson she must have died because 1910 cherokee Co. Sammye: I noticed the other day that you answered a lady with a lookup for some children in a Picher school. I'm not sure if I contacted you before, but I am looking for a child of a great uncle of mine that may have gone to a school in Picher, OK. My great Uncle's name was Carl Henry Wiman (may have been spelled Weiman, or Weman or even Wieman). He married a lady by the name of Ruby (Henderson). They supposedly had a child - a son - I don't have a name or an exact date. "Henry" was working in the mines in Picher around 1924 - so I was wondering if you had anything on a boy with the last name of Wiman (or any of the spellings above). Thank you for any help you may give me. If anybody knows where I can go for information on any of the above names, please contact me! Jan Scott
Jan, I ran through my books again and do not find either spelling. However, I did find some Wyman in the Baxter Springs cemetery. Wyman, unnamed, March 1, 1918? Picher, OK Lloyd Feb 23 1918 Roy Feb 23 1918, Picher, OK 3 children (no names) lot 13, 2nd Tear, graves #4-5-6 These burials are in the Beasley Cemetery, a Mennonite cemetery. I didn't find even this spelling any place else, keep in mind, my personal library is rather limited.
